"Another 9/11?"

Anyone else have a bad feeling about all this news on new attacks or is it just? http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8QALM9G2&show_article=1

Is anybody surprised by this? Anybody? Bin Laden played Bush like a fiddle. Our invasion of Iraq was their rallying cry. What better way to galvanize support than by the infidel treading on Muslim soil?

That invasion was the absolute worst thing we could have done. Now we have to deal with the flames we fanned.

What I don't understand is why organized crime doesn't tackle the problem. They have precisely the kinds of networks that could ferret out and eliminate the terrorist cells in this country. If they turned their attention to domestic terrorism, we could have the problem solved in 5-10 years, easy. [TL]

so you think the mob should be able to join forces with the FBI to take out the terrorists?

I know they helped in WWII.

Also, that it was plot line on the final epsiodes of the Sopranos.

Care to elaborate?

Really? The last episode I saw was when Tony was coming out of his coma. Interesting.

The ethical problems raised by any body of law enforcement joining with the mob would be insurmountable. I'm just thinking that the mob and terrorists operate in very similar ways. All they lack is the level of passion and fervor that the terrorists have. If they decided to band together and fight this common enemy instead of just looking our for themselves, they could do some SERIOUS damage to terrorist cells here in the US. Instead of buying another Escalade, put that money into hiring more people to inspect shipping containers. Skip the Knicks season tickets and pay to have people learn Arabic so they can better monitor communications.

But who knows. If that idea has already made it into a TV script, then maybe it's already happening. [TL]
