"Flyers/ Panthers Skate to Tie"

South Flordia-------------Coming off their thrilling overtime win against the defending stanley cup champions last night, the Flyers found themselves in overtime again. Unfortunetly, the Flyers were unable to pull it out last night.

The contest between both hockey clubs crew a little heated. Flyers captain Keith Primeau was ejected early in the game after spearing an opponent after scoring his first goal of the season. Primeau wasn't the only player not known for the rough stuff to get involved last night. John Leclair dropped the gloves with Panthers Eric Carins. Carins getting the better of the fight leaving Leclair with a noticable mark on his left cheek.

"He {Leclair} has been trying to help me improve my wrist shot.." Said Todd Fedoruk "Maybe I can teach him a thing or two", he added.

Somik (1) and Johnson added to the Flyers tally, but Panthers struck back in the mid-way through the third period sending the game to OT.

Esche has now let up 8 goals in two games.

"I am not worried" said Esche to the press after the game.

"Gagne Lifts Flyers in OT"

Tampa Bay------------------The offseason for the Flyers must have seemed like several years, as if there was never going to be another NHL game again. The Flyers who were bounced out by Tampa last spring who went on to win the Stanley Cup were eager to seek revenge. Okay, so they didn't get to skate the cup around last night, but beating the bolts last night was more therpetic than anything else.

THere was no shortage in goals ever and even ended in an OT triller when Gagne flicked the game winning goal deflecting a point shot from Markov. The puck sailed right over the shoulder of a slumping Khabibulin.

Critics lasts season said the Flyers weren't likely to beat Tampa since they don't have enough fire power. However, scoring 5 goals last night proved that despite an age disadvantage they can still hang with the younger players.

"We need we had to keep going and moving the puck all night to beat this club, and we did that." Said Jeremy Roenick after the game.

"It was just great to be in front of the fans again. We would never let them down. I love them all." John Lecair added.

The game was also the first for newcomer Turner Stevenson who was a minus one.

"NHL 2004-05 Preview"

The NHL is dead, the AHL has ruined the game of hockey and its almost certain at this point that the WHA2 has fallen through before the first season even started. However, there is no reason not to go with ahead it my NHL preview anyway. Here, we go hockey fans!

Flyers: FLY EAGLES ! LETS GO IGGLES BABY! WE GOT .T. O. BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO!
SUPERBOWL !!!!! (SCREAMING DRUNKENLY)

New Jersey: The Devils wanted a new stadium, no one in North Jersey was really all excited to go out of the way to get them one since no one goes to their games but Flyers fans. Their prayers have been answered there is no longer a reason to get a new stadium, because hockey no longer exists.

NY Rangers: Since MSG the tv station carries the Devils, Islanders and almost all Rangers games there are losing a truck load of loot in TV money over the lock out. One of the few NHL teams that actually makes profit will lose money this year. So, instead of making money and not being in the playoffs they will lose money and still not be in the playoffs.

Pittsburgh:

Super Mario is screwed no matter who wins, not unlike Americans in the pending general election. At least their will slot machines at the Igloo soon.

NY Islanders: Where will the Flyers fan club take bus trips too?

Washington: Capitals fans don’t have to worry their team is basically just a bunch of AHL players! So, they can basically see the entire final roster from last season play for the farm team. Hey if the team is a farm team and there is no team to send your players up to…is it still a farm team?

Tampa Bay: They can burry the cup in the sand in the beaches of Tampa, because the NHL will never return.

Florida: I don’t think the fans even noticed there is a lockout, so I am not to worried about them. Besides most their fans likely got blown away in the winds of one of the seventy hurricanes they had this season. IF they are lucky they were blown to Europe where hockey still is played.

Carolina: I guess both their fans are just going to have to go to more college basketball games.

Atlanta: Well this season is going better than last years…none of the players recklessly drove their fast car killing a team member. Chin up Thrashers fans.

Ottawa: They are going to make up money for the first time in years! Chin up Sens fans!

Buffalo: I would like to take this time to apologize in advance for the Atlanta joke.

Toronto:
I can imagine there are going to be lots of leafs fans jumping off the CN tower. Hey Drew next time we go to Toronto can we PLEASE go in the CN tower?

Montreal: One of the most hallowed sports franchises in the history of sports is dead now. Well at least the people of Montreal have the Expos to cheer for…OH WAIT!

Boston: The home of the Democrat National Convention I would imagine that the Bruins fans would LOVE to go back to the good old days when lockout talks were just a “nuisance” . It is a lot more fun and easier than dealing with reality. The whole “CBA thing” is exaggerated anyway.

Western Teams

ST Louis: They are going to be singing THE BLUES. There is no hockey. Don’t meet me in ST. Louis if you want to be watching hockey.

Detroit: Hockey town without hockey? Now that the NHL is dead and the Red Wings are just a memory the town will nicknamed after the other popular city hobbies. Yes the are now calling it “Smoking Crack, and Murdering People Town.”

Chicago: ESPN or SI or somebody voted this team the worst franchise in the history of sports. Well, since the sport of hockey has left us forever it is highly unlikely they will ever be dethroned.

Nashville
: The lockout was great for this team. Untill the owners met last month no one even knew Nashville had a team. They still made the team owner sit at the kiddie table during the negotiations though.

Columbus: How can you think of hockey without thinking of the city of Columbus? I beg you. Just try it. I can’t imagine what the Blue Jackets fans did when they heard there will be no hockey. Actually I think I can imagine, I am guessing they looked really sad and then the all realized not only there was no hockey but they lived in Columbus and all killed themselves.

Dallas: If Bush loses the election he will go back to his ranch and order up the hockey package. Even if everyone tells him there will not be a season or any games to watch he will insist on spending tons of money on something that isn’t worth it.

Anaheim:

Los Angles: FLY EAGLES ! LETS GO IGGLES BABY! WE GOT . T. O. BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO!
SUPERBOWL !!!!! (SCREAMING DRUNKENLY)

Phoenix: I bet Wayne is glad he put all the time and money into saving this team from meeting the reaper. All that trouble, and now hockey is dead.

San Jose: Believe it or not the fans here are pretty loyal and love their team. I am sure it bites to be a Sharks fan right now.

Vancouver: The question lots of people keep asking me is will Todd Bertuzzi be back in the NHL?
My answer: NO! And neither will 21 other Canucks. There will be no 2004-05 , 2005-06 season or any other season. The sport is dead. Might as well give him the chair now he is worthless to humanity.

Colorado: Wasn’t that great the way Paul Kariya and Temmu Selanne played for the league minimum for the Avalanche just for a shot to sip from the cup and be the part of something special? The NHLPA didn’t think so, they give both NHL superstars a bunch of crap about it. They would hate to put the love of the game before money for the players and agents.

Minnesota: So the North Stars owner sells to the highest bidder which results in the team dropping the North part of their name and moving to Dallas. Then the team finally comes together and wins a cup. Who do they root for? Well the Minnesota Wild who arrived a few years ago! Now they are starting to become a good team. Somewhere in a bar 20 years from now people will be looking at the really old pictures of Stars and someone will be what the hell is that? I have a faint memory of that…but I really don’t know what sport that is.

Edmonton
: If you needed on less reason to go to one of the coldest damn cities on earth. Now there is no hockey to see there.

Calgary: Did anyone stop to think about the FLAMES GIRLS during this lockout? DID THEY? DID THEY?

"Two in a Week"

I was going to write a little something about the passing of Rodney Dangerfield and maybe just post some of his really funny one line jokes, but sadly now I have to write about two actors I liked. Even though he didn't really like TV and Film nearly as much as standup he left us with three really funny films. Back to School, Caddyshack and I would even include Ladybugs despite the fact that it is clearly inferior to the other two. Has anyone ever seen Easy Money ? I want to know if its worth renting off netflix or not. In the 1990s he mostly did straight to video films like the Godson which was pretty bad so I imgine his others were worse. This came after his last movie in theaters Meet Wally Sparks flopped.

Anyway, I loved his comedy and always made a point to watch him when he showed up on Leno. He was at his best just telling jokes. CHevy Chase said on the Caddyshack DVD, that the first day of shooting Dangerfield was really upset after his first take, because he said he was bombing and wasn't funny at all. He had to be told that no one was laughing at him because they would all ruin the shot! Most the comics who weren't trying to keep from laughing their butts off were taking notes watching the legend spew out soon to be legendary lines.

Obivously, the other passing is Chirstopher Reeve. Now anyone who knows me even a little bit know that I really like the Superman Movies. Mainly, because they bring my back to my youth, but also because I liked Reeves verision of Superman, and them movies helped put me on the road to being the movie buff that I am today.

Reeve was mostly type-casted after making a name for himself in the movie series. However, I am glad he never got all bitter about it and embraced people knowing him as Superman. In order to be taken more seriously he tried to go against type playing a gay priest once. He also showed up in the whacky Nosies Off (I haven't seen it since I was 12, but thought it was funny then), Street Smart opposite a rising Morgan Freeman, and the God awful Village of the Damned.

Anyway, Reeve will always be Superman to me. I even liked the way he played Clarke, and many times it was easy as a viewer to forget that he was the same person as Superman. I recall when I had Liza watch Superman III with me a few months ago, she commented that she liked Lana Lang better (as do I) because she liked Clark for Clark, not like Lois who would blow Clark off for Superman. However, they are the same person! Superman was actually playing someone, but Clark always seemed like a real person who was just friends with Superman.

I know some of my friends thought he was "bland" in those movies. However, I would like to point out a few great scenes to show his rang in the series. The first comes in the first film where he slips from the Clark to SUperman voice then back again when he thinks about telling Lois the truth. The 2nd, the scene in III when SUperman becomes evil and has a battle with himself.

I was thinking of launching a feature call franchises on here and disecting some movie series that I am really familiar with..would anyone be interested in that feature? If there is interest since I know more about the Superman movie series than most people. It likely to be a good read for most people.

Anyway, both actors entertained me as a kid as well as an adult and we will missed. I guess its just as well that Reeves is gone, as upbeat as he was it had to suck. He really did alot for people in this condition and got a lot of attention from both canidates. He did a lot for me to make me develop a love for movies. Of course I looked up to him a lot when I was a little kid, but I imagine I am not alone in that.

Hard to believe that Reeve is gone.

Anyone who wants to go back and read about the Superman films, should go here. This dude from England of all places made this really cool site. He helped get the directors cut of the first film released and is now trying to do the same for Superman II. For awhile he even had a shout out to me. I am that much of a nerd.
Everyone hoped and some even though Chris Reeve would walk again, well I would like to think he is able to walk again now, and he is walking a much better place.

***From Superman: The Movie

warden: This country is safe again, Superman, thanks to you.

Superman : No, sir. Don't thank me, Warden. We're all part of the same team. Good night.

"4 Reasons John Kerry Will Win"

John Kerry is going to win the election in a few years from now. Here are the reasons that I think this way.

1. Most the polls are going to be way off, since they don't include people who registered to vote this year only to oust Bush.

2. Micheal Moore's film was the biggest film of the summer (and perhaps the year) and the young voters just love it. Everyone at work just is constantly quoting the film and use it as a bible for the potlicial views.

3. Most people who are under employed or out of work is going to blame Bush. In his defense Bush did come into the white house as the resecsion was starting. If you recall it was a big concern for him and Gore when they both ran in 2000. Of course 9/11 made things a lot worse. However, most people won't want to hear it they think Bush should have fixed the problem already.

4. The democrats are scaring the crap out of young people and college students going to college campuses and telling them they will all be drafted if they don't vote for John Kerry and fight in war on Iran that will start right after Bush gets elected.
