"Light Rail Goes Dark"

I wrote on here before about the Light Rail now known as the Riverline and how what a disaster it has been. The project started back in 2001 and has literally cost the state a billion dollars at this point. Pretty sad since it hasn't even started running yet.

The Light Rail is supposed to connect Camden to Trenton and take some cars off the busy highways. However you can't use the train to get to Philly lines or rail lines in Trenton to go to NYC. If you go to Camden from a Northern point you have to get back before 10 pm because the train stops running then. So it can't really be used for Riversharks games or concerts.

When last I wrote I mentioned all the major problems the River Line has suffered. Since than it has gotten worse. It was supposed to start running last week, but of course it isn't. The main reason for this is that the intersections are still not done properly. The drop signs at crossways with intersections have actually come down on cars. I am not making this up.

So the state is still saying when they finally get it up and running (they don't even bother giving it a date anymore) no one is going to ride it. Not to mention it takes well over an hour to get from Camden to Trenton. I imagine that they will just continue with this project. Sadly though all the tax money that went to this mostly the only people that know about it is are the poor people who have this disaster slicing through their town. It can't really be for people without cars either since most of the stops are hard to get to by foot.

So basically are tax money went to people who made horrible decisions with no thought to if anyone would actually use this train. Also people take 4 years and counting to even get the damn thing to work. I guess all the state workers that have had jobs for the past 4 years might by happy to vote a certain way.

People in this state bitch about our taxes. Its one of the reasons they are so high. I can't imagine that this project was ever supposed to succeed. If it was that how come no one that works for the state thinks its a good idea? Anyone who made this decision was either really dumb or got is passed without any else double checking that idea of just a project. No matter how you look at it is just plain awful. My thought is somewhere a group of people got really really rich off this.

The thing that really gets me is how few people know about this total misuse of tax money. God knows how many other examples are out there.
