Anyway, everynow and then something happens, and you are like DAMN I am old.

Take an point the text message I got tonight

Happy birthday!

How's this for feeling old: some of my fondest memories of the Echelon Mall include taking PATCO there to see films like "Corvette Summer", "Thank God It's Friday" and "The Buddy Holly Story". I used to hit Record Museum outside JC Penney for colored vinyl albums and picture discs (and browse through the drug paraphernalia openly sold in their "head shop" section). My brother and I would play Atari 2000 pinball at Funway Freeway. What do these have in common? They all took place before you were even conceived.

Damn, I am old!

Other interesting Echelon Mall milestones:
(1) Seeing a Compact Disc for the first time at Sam Goody, (2) eating dinner at York Steak House before skipping my senior prom in favor of seeing "Stripes", and (3) buying my first half-decent electric guitar at Sam Goody. I also still have an ash tray that I swiped from the food court when it first opened around 1985. Good times.

well my b-day was back in them middle of Oct, but thanks

This was younger friend of mine I guess the last to turn 21.

Um..well either I have an older reader of my blog now or someone with a really good imagination. However, considering almost no one knew there was a steak house at the Echelon Mall I guess maybe I do have an older reader.

I only found this out when my parents told me like a year ago when we were talking about the rise and fall of the mall. Apperently, they still have a liquor liscence.

Lets see if this person is really that age (please post your name) lets say they were lets say 17 for your prom in 1981. That would make about 40. Too young to be the father of one of my friends.

Well I give up, who is the new reader/poster?

Is anybody actually going to go to Alyssa's birthday? I wonder if Noel is going to be there, maybe she will play the shirt game.

If you want to think about getting old, think about how many people you know that are either married or getting married. It is scary.

Wow.. are you trying to tell us something?!?!?!?

Are you getting Jenna ring for Christmas? Don't worry Jay you can answer here she doesnt read this.

No, I doubt Noel will be there.

I dont know if I am going to go on the ride or not yet. I am sure there is a better chance of me going than Ryan.

I heard Ryan played in the gig a few weeks ago. Considering he hasnt returned like half a dozen phone calls I have made to him, he could have been dead for all I know.

I don't know about Noel. They dont even talk anymore as far as I know. Noel was working in the Deptford Mall the last time I bumped into her. Ask your brother Josh I swear I don't go to the mall often, but the last I would say 4 times I was there I bumped into Josh. Either we think alike, he is a mallrat, or he is stalking someone.

Intrigued, I commented. From now on I'll use the moniker "TL".

York Steak House was on the first floor right next to the escelators by what's now the food court. The Echelon Tavern was also on the first floor, but it faced Strawbridge & Clothier. And yes, Record Museum did sell drug paraphernalia. I once bought a roach clip there that was shaped like an alligator. Long gone, though. I also remember there being public lockers in the mall for a while.

Now that I'm thinking about it, when I moved here in 1976, Lit Brothers was still the achor store where Boscov's is now. See if your folks remember that!

Time to grab my walker and put on a fresh pair of Depends. [TL]

My mom and dad both worked at Lit Brothers. Does anyone remember when Boscov's was Gimbel's and then Stern's. My granny worked at both of those. I also remember getting lost in that mall when I was little. My aunt let my cousin and I walk around by ourselves when we were like 8 (not a good idea nowadays) and we got ourselves all turned around. I was so big and there were so many people and so many stores. I miss the mall of my youth. When there were stores in more then half the mall...ahh, those were the days. And life was good.
