"Lame Series"

The World Series ended last night. As far as I can gather no one cared or even notice in the area. Not one person talked about it at work. No one was talking about it on the radio. Very little media coverage.

I know most people in the Windy City are Cubs fans, so I don't even know if they care despite the White Sox not winning a world series in forever.

I think this was the least cared about finals in any of the major four sports in our entire lifetime.

As much as I like baseball, I have to agree. Last year I was absolutely riveted, especially during the ALCS. That was high drama. As a BIG bonus, it was awesome to watch the Yankees choke so very badly, especially in their own ball park.

This year? Little interest, except for the fact that it was baseball. White Sox? Astros? So what? The announcers tried so hard to create interest, talking about Clemens' mom dying and Biggio being 39 and all that, but in the end it just didn't work.

The best thing about this year's World Series is Yahoo's photo of Ozzie Guillen kissing another guy: http://news.yahoo.com/photo/051027/483/hta19010270538;_ylt=AsmzbsBodLbxX3d.9pSa8MgDW7oF;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl. I guess that patting guys' asses all day can do that to you, eh?

How is it that professional athletes, who are among the most homophobic people on Earth, feel it's okay to pat each other's asses? I never leave a meeting with my boss and get a pat on the ass. Do I pat my mechanic's ass when I pick up my car? I don't even pat my dad's ass after Thanksgiving dinner. Yet on the field it's somehow okay.

Maybe others who are more into sports than I am (which covers pretty much everybody) can answer this: do professional women athletes pat each other's asses? Seriously. I don't watch much sports, so I truly do not know. [TL]

TL, when I coached ladies volleyball team in college they did slap each other on the asses. Although it started b/c one girl said she was glad women didn't do it, and the other girls thought that it was ok b/c guys did it. Well, lets just say it got a lot of attention from game spectators.

And no Keith, the team did not have pillow fights in tight t-shirts and underwear.
