"Rick Reverse Curse"

Last summer at our local bar. I was watching the Phillies while Rick was putting money in the box to hear some tunes.

It was mid-July and the phils were struggling big time. PAt the Bat cracked on and tied it up. I started clapping in the mostly empty bar. RIck turned back to me with a look of digust.

"WHat are you doing?!? The season is over!"

Over the rest of the season he told me time and time again they WONT make the playoffs.
We know how that ended.

AGain this summer Rick predicted sometime in July.

"No shot"

During this past Thursday's game. I was watching the game at my parents. I send Rick a text, pretty fired up in tone asking if he was watching the Phils.

HE fired back

"They are done"

I responded the current score thinking he didnt realize that they pulled into the lead in the game. He responded back.

"3 games back season is over"

They have not lost a game since. Now they are not only ahead of the Brewers who the swept but ahead of the Mets.

Its looking like they are going to sneak in yet again.

Why do you tempt the greedmaster? Why, why, why, why, why? Can't you wait until the end of the season, or until they have actually clinched their division? Why?

Seriously, Keith... leaving aside the Greedmaster, with only a half-game lead and a half-dozen games left, their chances of winning the division can't be much higher than 50-50. Yes, they're hot right not, and the Mets are struggling, but that can change at a moment's notice.

I'm hopeful, but let's just wait and see at this point.

Dont forget about the Wildcard which we were really far out from last night. THe brewers are inploding. We have have a front and back door to get into.

By imploding do you mean that the Brewers are only a half game behind? These series are all way to close to even think about calling. If the Phils lose and both the Brewers and Mets win then the Phils are completely out of the playoffs. One loss. Nothing is assured.

That's true. Personally, the wild card doesn't mean very much to me. I want to beat the Mets. That's far more important.

I understand what your saying about beating the Mets. But the Wild card itself was written off a long time ago.

Funny thing is if the Mets hadn't swept the Brewers we might not be in this good of shape.

The Brewers arent imploding?! We swept them. Than they lost again tonight. They fired their manager since we beat them. Thats never good.

Not sure if its true, but Rick told me they could have played Monday instead of having the double header. If they played Monday they would have had their ACE pitcher on the mond. They were given the call for which way they wanted to play the game out.

IF the Mets get bounced out, everyone make sure to spam MOscos phone with mocking text messages.
