"McGreedy Comes out and Steps Down!"

Years ago when McGreevey ran against Brent Shundler a friend of mine told me McGreevy was hiding his sexuality in fear of not getting elected. Since she wasn't a girl that would spin yarn I pretty much figured there was some truth to that. She actually worked for knew some important people too. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Shundler was nice enough not to make it a dirty campaign oh what could have been.

So, McGREEDY being gay isn't as much a shocker as it was that he actually stepped down. There have been so many whispers of kick backs, scandals and etc. that I figured he couldn't be taken down. Not since so many democrats are in this state.

I talked to Drew earlier today who informed me that his resignation would side step a special election. The name of the guy replacing him escapes me, but he isn't running in the fall. Hopefully, Shundler is running so he can be elected into office. Anyway I did vote for him, but I doubt the scandal will have effects over a year from now.

So, Mcgreedy I have no problem that he is gay, but he was a terrible governor. Glad he is gone, but I don't know how I feel about being babysat for over a year. Looks like nothing will get done.

Oh well be sure to post any childish jokes about him on here about his sexuality. Hear any good ones yet? It's going to happen anyway so why not encourage it?

Oh, I hope Schundler runs in 2005 also. It would save Jon Corzine the trouble of campaigning. Seriously, Schundler has no chance. If the Republicans want to win back Trenton in 2005, they better find someone a lot more moderate than Schundler.

I like "McGreedy", that's cute. Similarly, I like to refer to President Bush as "Cunt".

Sorry Drew I guess that wasn't very moderate of me. I just can't stand him.

Anyway, do you think Shundler would have had a shot had we had to have had a special election? You are right though the Dems will win again New Jersey never seems to blinding cast for the dems. I guess I should wait till we see who is running for the spot on both sides anyway.

Oh yeah and if you read the courier-post it looks like I was right so far about the hotel taxes doing more harm. Pretty much all shore resorts are reporting a decline in money coming in despite that fact that they are still having tons of people down there.

People are getting hotels with kitchens and going out to eat less. They are also not buying as much products down there as last year.

July was an awful month, and I guess you can blame the rain if you want. However, people are seemingly still going to the shore, but not spending as much money. Actually most hotels have reported that the people that are staying are staying less nights and they have openings.

So, business owners are taking a bath so what are we gaining? One day as a laywer you should make decent money, and will likely have a nice house. Make sure you smile ear top ear when you shell out tons of tax money for your success if you plan out keeping the dems in charge of the Garden State.

Keith, how high were property taxes and insurance rates when Whitman and Keane(?) were in office? Pretty high, about the same that they are now (adjusted for inflation) so your Republican/Democrat governor dispute holds no water (which is a common theme of Tucker's World). High property taxes and insurance rates are just two things that you are going to have to deal with if you want to live in NJ, it is an unavoidable thing, Whitman has so much as admitted as so.

Keith I am with you on this. But then again Jay will just comment about how I am a women and therefore worthless. And that is why he will never be elected to office no matter what he says.

Looks like Schundler is gearing up for a run next year. Along with about 5 other Republican hopefuls, including Doug Forrester and Diane Allen.

New Jersey is not so left-leaning that a Republican doesn' stand a chance. Since my earliest memories, we've have two two-term Republican governors and two one-term Democratic Governors (if you count McGreevey plus future Acting Governor Codey as one one-term). That's twice as much Red as Blue since I can recall.

It's just that Schundler can't win because he's way too conservative. He'd be a good candidate for Georgia or Mississippi, but he's an awful candidate for New Jersey. If the Republicans nominate a moderate Republican like Whitman (socially liberal, fiscally conservative, at least so she said), they'll have a chance.

Schundler lost to McGreevey by 15 points in 2001. It was a blowout. The guy is a loser.

From what I hear Forrester would be a good candidate, but I think Shundler will be the front runner again. I would have voted for him in the last election if I had made it home from school in time.

I really hope you're right.

Jay first off I never liked Whitman. In fact every Governer that I can recall in my life time has always been corrupt.

I am talking in addition for the biggest property tax in the state in 10 years to the various other taxes such as the tax on hotels. Also, the fact that if you have to buy a new car now you have to not only pay the tax on the car, but the tax on each one of the tires as well.

McGreevey's new budget has 17 tax hikes or fee increases, which means McGreevey has burdened us for billions extra in his three years as governor.

McGreevy also plan (assuming it will still go through) will tax your cell and regular phone bills, your HMOs, and he already made New Jersey the first state to tax a particular surgery. Comesmetic surgery is now taxed which includes stuff as down to earth as braces for a child. I am sure there are lots more that I haven't named.

Many of the richest people in the state are considering leaving the state in the rasie in porpety taxes. If he hadn't given himself a raise when he went into office, and put dozens of cronnies on the pay roll that do nothing maybe he would have some more money from for the state to operate on.

Plenty of people agree with me on this matter even people who work with money for a living. The sad thing is even though even some of his democrates buddies were upset with him, and even Drew mentioned he was a dissappointment if he ran again (certainly before the scandal) he would have won in a landslide. What exactly do I say that doesn't hold any water? Just be cause I can actually question stuff about John Kerry the way you do about George Bush? I have slammed Bush on here, but I don't agree with the notion that if you disaggree with Bush, that you should just never disect what make John Kerry tick and follow him blindly either.

NEW JERSEY CAN DO BETTER !

Keith I was commenting on your comment about Drew paying through the teeth on property taxes because A Dem is in office. Which you are wrong about. Wheter you liked Whitman or not has nothing to do with it. She is a Republican and taxes were high under her, just as they were under Kean, another Republican. All I was saying is that in New Jersey property taxes and insurance rates will ALWAYS be high, no matter what party is in the governor's house.

As for the Kerry/Bush comment (I do not know where that came from, another theme of Tucker's World). I am not saying that you do not have a right to bash Kerry, I do not blindly follow him. He does have his faults, just NO WHERE near the amount of faults that Bush has. It is just that with your bashings of Kerry, you are usually wrong or misinformed. As with the Swift Boat Veterns for America, among others.

Keith, what taxes do you pay exactly? Because McGreevey never raised sales taxes, he only raised income taxes on the wealthy, and he actually lowered property taxes for 93% of New Jersey families (but not the wealthy).

You said "McGreevey's new budget has 17 tax hikes or fee increases, which means McGreevey has burdened us for billions extra in his three years as governor." That's just not true. My New Jersey state taxes are exactly the same: 6% sales, and no income. My parents' NJ taxes are lower than they were when McGreevey came into office, or will be, thanks to the FAIR Act that expands the Homestead Rebate for every home-owner earning less than $200,000/year. We haven't been burdened. And, if I may say so, neither have you.

Of course I don't own my own house so I havent been but lots of other people have.

I don't even really recall saying much about the swift boat thing other than throwing out the fact that there were people out there that didn't care too much for his war record. I posted Kerry's Shady Past before the ads started running and all so most people didn't even know those people were out there. What did I say that was so wrong other than the fact that people who served in Vietnam hate John Kerry? I may have poked fun at his meaningless sound bites and photo ops..but Bush will get his dose on here when we have the other convention.

Just because I don't pay those taxes doesn't mean that I shouldn't care. I will own my own house one day. As for the 9/11 comparasion I think we really use words so freely that they lose meaning after awhile COURAGEOUS..is being used alot about the McGreedy and I just don't see how he is or why he is.

I had to pay the silly tire tax, and high hotel tax.

When you do own a house, don't forget to thanks Jim McGreevey for expanding the Homestead Rebate.
