"NHL Season Melting"

One the eve of the counter proposal a memo has been leaked. Actually things look worse then they did a week ago. At least according to this article.

I heard that Bettman is going to turn down the proposal and demand a salary cap. I am not even sure if he is going to try to negotiate. He needs to be fired. This is getting ridiculous, there is a very good cahnce that we do not see hockey for aother year and a half. Drew and I were talking about this the other day and neoither side is talking about the one thing that really needs to be done to fix the game. Getting rid of teams. If you get rid oif the teams that cannot make money then you get rid of the excess fat. You also get to get rid of the muckers and grinders that are slowing up the game. The skill would improve, so the scoring would go up, so interest should rise. Everyone on all sides is a fucking moron. I hope that the NHL never comes back, fuck them all.

Well I am sure Bettman knows in his heart of hearts that they need to get rid of some teams, but at the same time how do you handle this in his shoes? Who is he to say, you, you and you OUT. Owners would be like "Hey man you can't just start kicking out owners you jerk".

If you read the transcript on NHL.com (under CBA news) you see that Bettman was fairly rude to the reporters. Not to mention he didn't answer anything and got miffed when people kept asking why bother looking at it if you refuse to agree to anything with out a cap.

Of course its Bettman's fault to start with since he was so pumped to expand the NHL to cities like Colbumus and Nashville. I stop watching the NHL once in my life. I was a kid an Bob Clarke (the first time) traded Dave Poulin for his friend Kenny Linesman who was washed up at the time. It is widely considered one of the wrost Flyers trades ever, and Clarkie even said sorry for it recently. Try explaining that to a 8- yearold me who worshiped Poulin.

Anyway the other time I almost stopped was when the Mighty Ducks were added to the NHL. I saw it as a sign of where they wanted the NHL to go. A place that would eventually kill the league. I recall talking to Rick and Hoffman how I thought it was evil.

The only was they (I guess at this point) will go capless if all the owners promise to behave themselves. But you know that the minute that summer, or the trade deadline comes along the Comcast Flyers and other big wigs will be like..eh. Whats 6 Mill for a 35 year old ex-blackhawk?

Then the Hurricanes owner will look all sad and say.
"B-B-ut you promised not to let salaries get out of hand!" ::sniffle sniffle::

"Shutup! Its not in writing you big jerk" Ed Snider

"Oh"--- Hurricanes owner ((looking at floor sadly))
