Parts of this blog were seen earlier today on TERMINUS, however there are various other insights. So don't think of this as cheap quick way to make a post, but a SPECIAL EDITION of my take on game 1.

"Don't Jump Off the Walt Whitman Bridge!"

Yes the doom and gloom fans of Philly are out in all their glory. Like Dan K at seafood buffet they are in all their glory. Because its time to start calling into sports radio and saying its time to melt the ice. I am not ready to start my focus on the Phillies just yet (I plan to jump on that band wagon once the Flyers start hitting golf balls). No one said this series would be easy. I am a little surpirsed.\

I wouldn't write off Philly just yet. I know how negative fans of this team can get, and given the fact that two years ago we were eliminated in a 8-0 game, and last season id like to pretend never happened.

I think that Philly actually out played the leafs for many parts of the game. When we got those two quick goals there was a period when they were moving the puck like crazy. At one point they had a line change and one of the forwards was able to keep it in deep while the players changed and the pressure kept going without missing a beat.

Now what did got me nervous is many times they certainly didn't seem to be playing "The System" that have been taught all season long. (not to be confused with "The One"). The defense usually doesn't play bad like this on a regular basis. THe Flyers are co-winners for the Jenny's Trophy which means the let up the least amount of goals in regular season.

Check-o let in soft Domi Goal. In all fairness he and even Beflour were left high and dry a few times. Tucker left the game but I doubt he will sit out game 2.

In as curious move people the Fridge, Williams and Murray in favor of Lapointe and Sacco sat out. Hitch says he will nwork Willy into the lineup, but i wonder if he will. He isnt a big fan of him at least thats the impression I get.

Sacco had a few sweet moves last night stripping leafs of the puck. I don't really think Williams could actually do much playing on the 4th line and I think Sacco's experience and ablitiy to break up plays favor him. Williams is the kind of player that needs a good line mates to skate with. He is either wasted or almost uselss as 4th line player.

I would also like to say that most the callers into WIP after the game last night were retarded. If I hhear one more caller say Brasher should have dropped the gloves in a one goal game(not counting the ENG)....the first in long series no less.

Game 2 is clutch and if of course is a must win (arent all playoff games?). If they win this Friday than its back to a clean slate. The only problem with this team is they are usually done on themselves if things don't go their way early. The fans aren't exactly behind them 100 percent. It was the first time that I can recall that I went to a playoff game that wasn't sold out. Many empty seats were out in the stands. Many people site the economy, the awful dealing of the firing of the coach last season, and mostly the Flyers sucking really bad in the playoffs.

Ed Snider blames the Philly Daily News and the Philly Inquirer for pushing Flyers coverage into the back page this season. I think he is just making excuses which what the players will likely do if they lose Friday. The truth is the Flyers don't as much charm or ink worthy off ice stories like in years past. Many people are waiting to get their Jerseys out of the moth balls if the Flyers make it past the first round. It is a shame that fans are taking a wait in see approach because many of them are likely to miss one hell of a series.
