"NHLPA Wastes a Minute of Your Time"
The two hockey sides have gone from airing their dirty laundry through the meeting (instead of actually meeting for months), to being really secretive, and now they are just being silly. Of course we all know behind closed doors everything generally goes well until the words SALARY CAP are uttered. Then they called each other a bunch of jerks and storm out of the room like 5 year-olds.
Below is statement released to the public. I think it might be to the point that the columnists don't even care anymore. Yes, and its February and they are still talking about "trying to save" the season.
NEW YORK (February 3, 2005): At the conclusion of today's meeting in New York, National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) Senior Director Ted Saskin released the following statement:
"The meeting with the league has ended for this evening. The parties plan to meet again tomorrow."
*****************UPDATE*************************
TSN reports that Gary and Bob were there for the fun. They almost burned the midnight oil too. Some think it was a good sign that their meeting ran over. Who really knows maybe it just we drug out because of all the 5 minute majors.

"Hockey Town Jerks"
Ah.....You have to love this story.
If you are going to stand up for something you "belive" in at least have the balls to actually give up something for it. Since none of these guys children ever have to work a day in their life let alone them, why not weather out the storm?
Now you could argue that its there "love of the game" shinning through. I think thats a load of crap, because if that was true they would have gone to Trevor Linden and Bob Goodenow and said; "Aw Shucks we will play for 4.5 million instead of the 4.8 million a year we love the game so much.
The NHLPA is supposed to help its members I guess. However, in the process its screwed countless alumni who base their businesses off the game of hockey who are now lossing thier shirts. Not to mention players in these leagues who never did anything to anyone.
I hope they get their asses booed. At this point I hope the talks go bad today. Screw the NHL and even more the NHLPA. I hope all their members are really dumb with their piles of millons like MC Hammer was and end up digging ditches for 10 bucks an hour untill the machines come to life and wipe out humanity.
Trevor Linden said he would rather see the NHL die then ever accept a salary cap. You know what at this point I hope you get your wish you has been jerk-off.

"Tuckers World On DEMAND"
What you would you like to see?
1.
Was there any serious interest in my doing a DR. Who like review of the Transformers cartoon series from the 80s? It was suggested to me again this weekend, but I don't know how much interest there would actually be. Not to mention I am a little uncomfortable with being sent to an even higher level of nerdness. PLus I need to get copies of the shows.
2. Movie trivia games. I have failed to get any off the ground on this blog in the past, but the casting the crew blog was a big hit. So, maybe there is some interest there.
3. MOvie Franchise History: Here my expert take on the Jaws, Superman, Starwars, Lethal Weapon and more movie series. Learn more about them than you ever wanted to and have me point out what went wrong with some of these sequels.
4. Bad joke Wednesday. Every weds, I post really bad joke on here.
What if any of these idea do you want to see on Tucker's World?

"Wal-Mart Block"
Well my sources were wrong before the Wal-mart at Echelon isn't done deal. In fact some people in Voorhees hope it never comes true. There are still some legal pitfals to leap over apperently. THe people of Voorhees are afraid that it will bring in too much traffic. They fear "there will be too many trucks" if Wal-mart is build there. One wonders how many more there would be then when there were 4 anchor stores and the mall was totally filled. But these are the same people that gripe that the stores are all leaving the mall.
OKay, I can understand that people would upset and lets say Deptford where there simply isn't any room to place a Wal-Mart. However, this mall won't make it with out thinking outside the box, which would sky rocket the propert taxes in the town. The Echelon Mall is roughly 20 percent of the tax money of the town, and its exit would really hurt the town.
The idea the PREIT has at this point is to tear down the empty J C Penny's building, and put the Wal-Mart there. They would have a new enterance to the mall near where Suncoast is and possibly insert a reteruant of some sort there. In addition the existing remaning part of the mall would be overhauled and updated.
On top of people that fear "the trucks" being pissed off the grocery unions are getting in the mix. The planned Wal-mart could be (seriously) just as big as the actual mall. So, based on that fact you would imagine that it could be a Super Wal-Mart. This would include a grocery section. Which would have non-union worker, and potentially put union workers out of work if say it knocks out the Acme in the same town. So, sometime this week (don't know when or where) there were supposed to be more meeting about it.
Now most people think that when Wal-mart comes to town it results in everyone losing their jobs and having to work for Wal-mart. That every store in 10 miles will be boarded up. Well, I am starting to think that it only happens in really small towns like in Mystery, Alaska. I mean there has been a Wal-Mart near Liza for years, and the entire shopping center is alive and feeding off the Wal-Mart. The Target and Kohls down the road are still alive. Also the area doesn't look like a bomb dropped or anything.
Now Wal-mart IS being stupid in South Jersey because if they get their way they will have dozens all over the place. One wonders if they would only be competing with themselves. However, cases like this I th ink the area will only benefit. It can't get worse. Empty IHOP, Empty Hair SALON, almost entirely empty mall.
Rick and I estimated recently that a third of the stores are empty in the entire Mall. Counting the small ones there is 57. Oh yeah, and that doesn't count The Wet Seal, Contempto, or Cinnabun that are all offically gone as of earlier this week.
Its your fault Bush voters.

"Best Movies of 2004....I Never Saw."
Sideways: Lowell from Wings and that guy from that American Splendor Movie that I never felt like seeing go around and drink wine. Oh, yeah one of them is getting married and a bunch of whacky stuff happens when they hit the road. Its all artsy and stuff and the wine is symbolic of um something.
Ray: Ah man Jamie Foxx sure looks like, sings like and acts like Ray Charles. I was really almost brought to tears late in the film when he sang "AMERICA's GAME THE ONE AND ONLY LOTTERY!". Also the scene when he sang about Diet Pepsi was great. You got the right stuff baby!
Million Dollar Baby: Hillary Swank acts all tough, father figure Clint Eastwood creeply looms over her. Oh yeah, the is sad since he is old now and wants to pass his knowledge on to her. Oh, but its not cool to train a woman! Uh-oh looks like these two are going to have to overcome the odds.
House of Flying Daggers: Amazingly they cut a tin can as easily as a tomato.

"Monster Storm Fell Through"
Well, I didn't update much this week. So I wasn't really able to bring up the fact that the Son of the Monster Storm wasn't going to happen. Despite the fact we did get some snow. Liza said she got like 5 inches or so. I shoveled a bit today and it was maybe 2 at best. However it's somewhat thought that the biggest storm of the winter might be in two weeks. I will keep you posted. This week its actually going to be fairly mild and dry so. No son of monster storm this week.

"Dark Days of Echelon"
Well I figured the months after the holiday season would be telling one for the future of the Echelon mall.
Well I have been there a few times since the holiday season past, and you could hear a pin drop. The one day the building was almost totally void of any customer traffic. All I saw was vast emptiness and could hear my foot steeps echo across the empty shopping mall.
THere hasn't been a post holiday mass exit. However, rumors are still floating around that the Cinnabun is leaving and one of those girlie stores I never went into has closed its doors. The only new store in the mall by my estimate in the last 2 years was the Mens Mart. Some nice stuff, but I always feel like the workers (and I assume owners) that stand around in there are always really nice to me. However, I just feel like if I don't buy something there the entire family will be out on the streets.
The only changes that PREIT seems to have done in order to get readying for the awakening at this point is the different displays they put up in their dozens of empty store fronts telling you to go to the foodcourt where there are still some stores. An entire wing of the malls only purpose at this point is to let old people walk around. Or local blog writers to investigate for any new developments.
So, if you go to mall enjoy your time in you store of choice, because it might be your last trip there. Also stop by the dollar store, because they play Russian music really loud. Its very absurd to have pop Russian music play there all the time and good for a laugh. Also there seem to be lots of kids that work there even during hours when you would think they would be in school or something.
Wish PREIT would just get their butts in gear sometime before 2020.

"Philly Birds of Prey"
Well for the first time since I was younger than Hunter (does it even really count?) the Eagles are going to the Superbowl. Now for my age group the very concept of the Eagles being in the Superbowl is a mind blower. I accepted over the years, that the Superbowl was something that happened after the Eagles were eliminated. Certainly not a game that had anything to do with the team that played in Philly. So Superbowl Sunday was almost like a holiday for some sort.
We stay up some what late, have a lot of stories to exchange the next day. Mainly it was about breaking out John Madden, eating lots of good food(Ryans family used make me gain about 6 lbs every year), and watch,,,um commericals. Unless someone had money on it, or was one of those sickos that rooted for an outsider team no one cared who won or lost. This year we find out if the curse of Willy Penn will be lifted. Wh ich makes it a a SUPER bowl indead.

"Son of Monster Storm?"
An inch of so of snow tonight. Some more chances of a little dustings this week. More importantly something big might be brewing this weekend. Could be rain to melt the snow, could be nothing, could be a little snow and there is a fair chance it could be a repeat of this weekends storm! Looks like there might be a sequel on the way. Sorry, Hunter no days at the playground anytime soon. You can always make snowcrewmen. Point your mouse clickers here readers.

"Two Good Days in CBA Hell"
The two side for the NHL lockout met this past week. Well sort of. They banned Bettman and Goodenow from the meetings. They really wanted to make the talks more friendly so they hung out in an airport lounge the first day. Clearly, there are people on both sides that are starting to piss themselves since they realized that the general public either has moved on with their lives or hasn't yet noticed there is no hockey. Bill Daly was there for the NHL owners, and Trevor Linden was there for the players. Nice of them to finally get around to doing this around the time the ALL- Star game should have been played.
Supposedly, there is a scheudule made up of as many as 37 games and as few as 24 in case things get worked out. There might be times when the teams could play 3 games in 4 nights. The players said they would be ready to go if things got together that quick.
However, having a meeting without the big guys there isn't likely to move either side anywhere. Sadly, I think just as much came out of the talk Duke and I had about the lockout at SHarkeys a few weeks ago than what came out of their friendly meeting. Maybe, when both sides finally run out of money they might actually give a damn about the game.
Check this out for more details.

"White Out" ***UPDATE** "PHASE 2 A Go"
The Phase two mentioned below that would dump even more snow is going to happen. Its up to 9.5 inches in my lovely little town.
Movies watched: Spartan, The Perfect Score
Beers Drank: One rolling rock
I also slept almost till noon, for the first time in ages.
********************************************
I have estimated roughly 5 inches at least at we are getting burried right now. Just out shoveling and its piling up like crazy. I cleaned my car off, and turned my back for a few mins. any it was covered again. Less then a half an hour later its as if I never touched it. There might be a break in the snow for some time this afternoon. But then more tonight when the system taps into more energy over the ocean.
Hows everyone else fairing? I hear its turned to sleet and rain near the shore. Whats it like out in PA Royce? Drew and I were talking about the timing of the storm. Doesn't look like its going to benefit getting anyones classes cancelled. I don't know who might get a 3 day weekend here, other than maybe the Beanz.
What could make this storm kick ass, is depending on if this other part happens or not. If you look at the radar map there isn't much left of the system. So without second surge it would wind down this evening. Though that isnt likely to happen. The baramoter is dropping which likely means its shifty energy to the coast. It could bring in some warmer air in the process, however if it might only bring it as far west as Vineland. Which would mean more snow all night long with the "2nd surge".
Yes, I am a total nerd.
Right now you can barely see down my street just total white out.

"Best Royce Story Ever"
Well in my first of maybe a few (maybe none) posts to give snowed in readers something to do. I want to have everyone tell their best Royce story. Royce is one of the funnist guys I know and I don't think anyone looks at the world the way he does. THere are some classics out there. I am still laughing about the M and M think you posted on here a few weeks ago Royce. And Yes ROyce, you can tell your best Royce story ever too if you want.
"Monster Storm"
Well the first big snow storm is just 8 hours away from hitting us. They have been hyping this one since the start of the week. It is going to be really nasty out there with the strong winds that will come in the later part of the storm.
For camden county im going to say 10 inches from what I have gathered from what everyone is saying. Supposedly the storm may tap into warmer air and we could get some rain and sleet that would shrink the totals. If we dont get the change over we could have as much as 14 inches, but I figure it to bottom out at 10 inches. Also its a fast moving storm so I think even if we dont get the change over it will end sooner than they think.
North Jersey (look out Brant) will really get nailed and they are saying at LEAST 15 inches. For any of my readers who live closer to the shore, they will get less snow.
Of course I can't even imagine rain tomorrow. I just got back from Liza's house and on the way home it was literally 7 degrees.
So, hope you got your beer, shovel and DVDS ready to go. Going to be fun to watch. Dorks like me that like to read this kind of stuff have had a blast reading the stuff this week.
I am sorry for the lack of posts this week. I have just havent been home much. I plan to post some stuff to entertain my readers who will likely be shut in this weekend.

"Gay Bombs"
Well as if you didn't have enough to worry about regarding terrorists, now you have to worry about becoming Gay at the hand of Osama, that is if we don't make the Iraqis homosexuals first.
Here is an article about the US kicking around the idea of using a chemical weapon that would make everyone gay.
Now we aren't the only one that wants the enemy to become just a bunch of dudes getting it on with one another. Just check this out, Osama wants to make you and everyone you care about gay.
Now, Drew had an interesting theory that the town of Collingswood may have been the vicitm of hush-hush government experiment. Hmm.. Maybe McGreedy just got too close to the the truth and they made him gay.
As a service to my readers I have decided to start a Gay Color Warning Chart.
Code Red= Every Thing is Fine the gays are gays, the straights are striaghts.
code Blue= Everyone is a "little" gay. There just shades of gay, accept it. Not that there is anything wrong with that
code orange= Hey, just because guys snuggle together and hold hands doesnt make them Gay!
Thats acceptable.
Code yellow: Just a bunch of guys "expermenting" perfectly natural.
Code Pink: The whole world has become gay. Nothing but Gay Orgies untill the robots rise up and wipe us off this planet. No turning back nothing will get done just a bunch of dudes humping all day long. Well I guess the women inherit the planet.
Before I get slammed for being homophobe, just relax its a joke.

"Old Man Winter Comes to Town"
Finally.
If I have to inform you on this blog that we are in a "deep freeze" then you likely, well never leave your home.
If you don't the next few days I couldn't blame you. Check this out highs below freezing. Yeah old man winter is here.
We might even get a potentially big snow storm this Saturday into Sunday. Could be a fun game to watch and could be deemed "The Snow Bowl", but its too early to tell.
