"Get Well Brody"

I only recently learned a few weeks ago that actor Roy Scheider was dignosed with cancer in June. He under went bone marrow transplant to treat multiple myelnoma which is from what I understand a cancer of the plasma cells.

Scheider is likely best known for play Cheif Martin Brody in Jaws and its first sequel. This put him on the list of "Keith's actors" (anyone interested in my providing an actual list?) and gave him one of AFIS most memoriable lines.

"Were going to need a bigger boat"

In addition to Jaws, he also played in well regared 70's films The French Connection, Marathaon Man, and All that Jazz. Other movies you may know him from are 2010, 52-Pick Up and the Rainmaker.

TV people might know him from his short lived tv show Seaquest.

Does anyone know anything about this form of cancer? THat could shed some light on his chances of a full recovery?

Roy seemed to be in good spirits when a months ago when the story broke (where the heck was I?).

"It went well. They harvested my stem cells. I was my own donor. I won't be bouncing around like I usually do this summer. I'll be weak. I'll be recovering. But, to all those wishing me well, thank you very much." --he told the NY post in June.

Hang in there Brody, remember Hooper drives the boat and Jersey Pride!

"Ken Riddle 1980-2005"

This might be a point of interest to some of my readers who may not have heard at this point, or a few whose emails I dont have. A classmate of mine (and many of my friends and readers) was killed in car accident over a week ago. My friend Jessica was able to find his death notice.

"Underwater Buses"

A lot of heat has come down on the federal government, about not reacting in time to save the people who were socked by Hurricane Katrina.

However, what about the Mayor and the Governor?

Check out these pictures of buses that just sat there and are now under water and useless.

There were tourists who could not leave, because all the cars were rented. Why on Earth, didn't the mayor or for that matter any state officials use these since they had a mandatory evacuation?

It didn't help that almost no one batted and eye till the President finally told them to get the hell out of there.

There is no reason for these busses to have gone to waste.

"Katrina's Chaos"

When I heard this happened, I honestly had to look up who Kayne West was. I had heard the name, but had no idea who he was. Apparently, he is rapper and I guess a popular one.

From Yahoo News
Comedian Mike Myers was paired with West for a 90-second segment that began with Myers speaking of Katrina's devastation. Then, to Myers' evident surprise, West began a rant by saying, "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food."

While allowing that "the Red Cross is doing everything they can," West who delivered an emotional outburst at the American Music Awards after he was snubbed for an award declared that government authorities are intentionally dragging their feet on aid to the Gulf Coast. Without getting specific, he added, "They've given them permission to go down and shoot us."

All, I can say is this kind of crap disgusts me. Before, you go off saying Keith hates free speech, let me explain. There is a time and a place. I am sure WEst has the ability to get his views out there. If he doesn't he ought to fire his agent.

What kind of egotistical piece of turd turns a live benefit into their own political soap box? Please. You weren't asked to rant and rave, you were asked to help raise money. For his information National guardsman WERE BEING SHOT AT.

Response may have been slower than needed, but than again I was not there. I am not sure how difficult it was to get into a town where all the bridges were wiped out. I certainly don't see their waiting a justification for burning buildings or rapping innocent women.

Later he stated, "George Bush doesn't care about black people," the camera cut away to comedian Chris Tucker

I honestly, not believe the President doesn't care about black people.

In addition to the heart breaking stories of life lost and seeing the city look like something after the catylism. It makes me sick, hear we are nation trying to help Iraq to be more collapsed, and we look like a bunch of animals torching buildings and raping women. In addition, to surprised the world watching how rocked we have been by a Hurricane.

Osama must be doubled over laughing some place.

"Katinas Wrath"

I have been super busy lately. So, there have been no updates. I am sure since I am such a weather buff, and usually blog about hurricanes people were looking here to see what I wrote. I had lots of long hours at work, so its been rough to blog.

Well, what can you say? They are saying the death toll could be in the thousands. The storm was just insane by hurricane standards. Its rare for Cat 5 to hit, and it was easily one of the worst places in the country for it to hit. Considering New Orleans is below sea level.

What can be done for the soaring Gas prices? To fix the floods?

I really wanted to post a video of the man who lost his wife in the floods, but for the life of me. I could not find it online. CNN has it, up its just random commericals. I am really starting to hate online news sites.

Anyway, if anyone can find it that and post he URL that would be great. Anyone has an interesting stories they saw on the news that would be good too.

Its just insane, how bad it was. The prime of the hurricane season is just starting.

"40 Year-Old Virgin"

I went to see the 40-year old virgin this weekend, and I felt that I saw an instant classic. Almost every joke worked, and it will go down as a highly quotable movie. Its up there with the top comedies of this decade.

Here is my top 5 of 2000's (2000-05) in no real order

Meet the Parents
Starsky and Hutch
Saving Silverman
Wedding Crashers
The 40 Year Old Virgin

If you werent planning on seeing it change your plans. The 40 yearold virgin is one of the funniest movies to come out in quite sometime.

"4 More Years?!?"

According to a high profile general if the new Iraq constitution isn't signed ready soon, and the elections aren't held shorly after that troops could be in Iraq till long after Bush leaves office. Worst case, they will have over 100,000 soliders in Iraq for four more years.

He didn't even imply that they would be totally out of the country. Democrats are urging a total withdrawl from the country. Their counterparts take issue claiming it would have been a defeat if they just pull out now.

Is there any end in sight?

"Echelon Life Line"

The lastest battle in the Echelon Wal-Mart took place last week. PREIT has a 30-day extention to get their Wal-Mart plan approved. It approved once, than it turned out it wasn't done right so they Mall was set back yet again.

In the mean time the Mall has slipped farther into a coma. Nathans pulled out of the food court. In addittion Fredericks of HOllywood (or was it the other one?) pulled out.

The people that are against the Wal-Mart think they have a better idea. They want an a main street type place. With a place for people to walk and ride bikes with some offices, shops and resturants. Basically, they are trying to be like Collingswood. The didn't mention trying to attract a large amount of homosexuals to compete with Collingswood though.

I don't know if anyone from these protest groups have any business background at all. So, it comes off pretty comical that they tell the company with a proven track record with malls to do with their investment.

Anyway, with Mainstreet, and the Ritz and Eagle shopping centers I don't really see this being a big better plan.

Its very likely that the tug of war will end in an empty mall for many years to come. Perhaps sometime in September the Wal-Mart war will finally come to and end. ITs been over a year since the whole plan frist came to light.

"AVs Dumb Move"

The Flyers may have made the right moves for free agency, but the AVS must have made the strangest.

They signed Brad May, who used to play for Vancouver. If you recall two years ago, Brad May basically put a bounty on the head of Colorado forward Steve Moore who took out Vancouver star player Mark Naslund. The next game between the two teams Todd Bertuzzi decided he would be the one to make Moore pay. He was a bit overzealous and broke Moore's neck. He was slapped on the wrist by the NHLfor 20 games. Of course it would have been longer (at least I hope) had there been a season. I think the ruling to let him back for opening night is awful.

Season ticket holders are pissed and are not renewing and Colorado is getting flooded with angry emails. I don't blame them. May is basically taking Moore's roster spot. Not only that May was named in a suit that Moore (who likely will never play hockey again) in a suit. This on top of losing the best player in the world.

It just makes no sense to me. I mean players like May are a dime a dozen.

"Phillies Still Fighting"

With the win last night its hard to buy into this, but the Phillies are only 2.5 games out of the wild card. They very easily could win it and make it into the post-season. I don't actually think this will happen, and most people likely don't. However, its amazing that they could still mathmatically make it.

Despite still being in the running, the fans are still generally very negative towards this team. In fact I can't think of a philly team that is as much hated as this one. People detest the owners and even most of the players.

So, it is still possible that the Phillies could make it into the post season. Does anyone think people would actually care if they did?

FORSBERG-MANIA

One of the 4 teams in Philly now has the best player in the sport wearing their jersey. Check out Yahoo! sports. Also, tune into comcast tomorrow or go to their webpage to get your first peak at Peter in a FLyers jersey.

If JR's future is still in the air. Be sure that they will be hammered with questions about him.

"Forsberg's Pain"

So, much has said about JR's injuries. Now im not going to bash Forsberg again since I am happy he is now a Flyer.

However, he has had his share of injuries. I doubt he will play 82 games. In fact when he played over seas last season. He had a knee injury and a nasty concussion. This came on the heels of him telling fans he would never return to the NHL, and wants to raise his kids in his native Sweden.

So does he really want to even play in the NHL? Is his body too torn up to return to form? Is it at all possible to keep him and JR? If so how so?

Flyers will have a press conferance 10 am Thursday morning.

So many casual fans will be turned off by this move. Most casual fans honestly have very little idea who Forsberg is. Liza actually vowed never to go to a Flyers game again. I love Forsberg, but I don't know if he wil reach casual fans that the Flyers might be looking for after pissing off their fans during the lockout.

....the trade

FLYERS INK FOR

For the more than a decade Flyers fans have wondered all along what it would have been like if the Flyers had kept Peter Forsberg instead of shipping him off for Eric "The Big E" Lindros. Who turned out to be nothing but a crybaby and never panned out to be what the superstar he said he would be when he got drafted and refused to play for Quebec.

I was really surprised when I saw (through a text message from a friend) that the Flyers had inked who you could consider to be the best player in the NHL or perhaps even in the world. My joy was soon deflated after I realized Roenick was going to be shipped off to a soon to be determined team in order to make room under the cap.

The signing of Peter puts the Flyers $3 million over the cap. At first the rumor was that it was a done deal and the deloved chatty centerman Roenick was shipped to the LA Kings for a bag of pucks. This robbed my of any job that Forsberg signing with the Flyers could have given me.

Don't get me wrong Forsberg is a much better player than Roenick. But, I am just really sad to have to see JR go. He signed here to win us a cup, and he won't get that chance now. On top of that if it is true and he does go to LA that is easily the worst hockey city in the NHL. The fans are apathetic and don't know anything about the game.

Perhaps, Roenick's mouth and rocky relationship with Coach Ken Hitchcock didn't help matters. An hour after I heard he was a King. I heard it wasn't a done deal, but they Flyers were still over 3 millon as far as their cap goes.

So, I got the new roster out and tried to figure out where they could trim some fat. So they could keep JR. The best I could come up with is to ship Sami Kappanen. I just don't see how they can do this body wise, and money wise.

Close to 7pm JR called 610 and said this: ``The Flyers have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup with Peter Forsberg than with Jeremy Roenick,''

20 minutes later Flyer big-wig Ron Ryan said they may not trade him. Although he didnt really give a reason. I don't see howt his could happen, and JR was clearly blind-sided by the news that would likely result in him going some place else.

The story keeps changing, and sadly enough I am going on a business trip for two days and will be unable to blog or comment. Its going to drive me nuts. I would love for the hockey fan readers to comment on here and get some back and forth debates.

Actually, its really hard for me since JR is one of my all time fav. players to play the game. I know deep down in my hockey knowledge that they are a better team with PEter. I love Forsberg, and always wanted him on my team. Hell, even before Peter I thought the Flyers would be a front runner for the cup.

Picturing Forsberg with Gagne, Richards, Sharp or Carter could be a dream come true. Just stings to love the heart and soul of team to get it.

"Flyers Beef Up Defense"

The Flyers are simply not fulling around when it comes for making a push for the cup in 2006. The team lost a few d-man too retirement. Today, the Flyers signed Derian Hatcher,33 who played for coach Hitchcock in Dallas. Who also once broke JRs jaw. I have been a fan of Derain since the days that he lived in his brother Kevin's shadow. Now, no one remembers Kevin, and Derain is one of the best D-man in the league.

In addition the Flyers added equally as big (litterally Hatcher and him are 6-5) MikeRathje, 31, has spent his entire career with the Sharks since being drafted third overall by San Jose in 1992. How odd will it be to see him out his blue jersey?

In addittion to all this. THe Flyers brought back longtime staple Chris "Bundy" THerein.
Anyone like or dislike these moves?

"100?!?!"

Most people have us nailed down for 96 or 97 degrees tomorrow. I think we have a real shot of hitting 100 at least in some areas. Down south they are already pegged for it. The heat index is 100-110 for tomorrow.

I will give anyone 20 bucks if they litterally try to fry and egg on the street, succed and send me pictures. Of course you have a deadline till tuesday at midnight. It doesnt count if the egg doesnt fry. Try it on the street or a parking lot. Might get her cooking up good.

Summer Movie Files 205: Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Okay, I really don't like it when movies are remade of films, that I think still stand up today. It really annoys me.

However, since TIm Burton is a great director. I was willing to see this. Burton went off the deep end in the late 90's and adpated The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Sadly, though and oddly, he went against every Burton instict and Hollywoodized the story. Adding an annoying kid for no reason, made the hero a dectieve not a teacher who accidentally stumbles across the legend, and making just an awful movie. On top of that he remade The Planet of the Apes, resulting in an unwachable mess that put me to sleep all 3 times. I attempted to watch it.

Thankfully, Burton returned to form with Big Fish. So, I was ready to forgive him.

Anyway, Im told Burton didn't want to remake the movie, but wanted to adapt the book better. Burton's style certainly gels good with the borderline creepy story of a grown man being sadistic to a bunch of brats.

Although Johnny Depp, looks a bit too much like Micheal Jackson playing the role. He is pretty good as Willie Wonka. The difference between him and Gene Wilder is Depp's verision has a little less heart. He is more of a social outcast and bitter than Wilder's Wonka who was more or less a goofball who had his heart in the right place, but was missing a few buttons.

The additions to the story are what you would expect from Burton. Fleshing out his childhood, and showing that Wonka was missunderstood.

Visually the film is breath taking and times looks like a moving painting. Burton has the ablitiy to make his films almost hyponotic combined with the genius music of Danny Elfman. I saw this movie on an IMAX theater which made it that much better.

The music is updated, and the lessons to the kids are made to be more meaningful in todays society. The ommpa-Lommpas are played by the same guy. The music is enteraining, but instead of looking like freaky clowns he looks like a drug pusher at times.

I could debate which film is better, I might still have to go with the first one.

"There's Something About Sidney"

Sidney Crosby's playing the lottery just as much as the teams are. THe bigger the market the bigger the bucks.

But since normally the worst teams in the NHL (rightfully so) get first dips a lot of the new young talent is on small market team. Imagine if some of the young marketable talent were on teams that got more attention. Columbus's Rick Nash, Calgary's Jarome Iginla, or even Atlanta's Dany Heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk. Not to mention no one can pronounce Iglinla's name, and Heatley's carrer was darkened by an auto crash with him behind the wheel ending in the death of a teamate.

Still have the gut feeling he will be a Ranger. Because well I never thought I would say it, but the Rangers have got a lot of balls.

"Comcast Hockey Net"

The NHL has no cable network home. Which means it likely the end of the beloved national hockey night theme. Which makes me really sad. There is a slim chance that ESPN might get a deal dirt cheap.

However, I think more than likely the NHL will end up on a smaller channel like SPIKE. Because, of fear of a ratings slump.

But the last week I am leaning towards Comcast stepping in. Comcast sportsnet is just regional in major cities. However, they are carrying the draft lottery when even ESPN won't. This comes on the heels of Flyers owner Ed Snider slamming ESPN, saying they sucked at promoting the game anyway. Which I thought was a lousy thing to do, since there was still as hot of ESPN and the NHL making up. Not to mention I totally disagree with that statement. If anything ESPN stood by the NHL too long from business prospective.

It's clear Comcasts goal is to have a national sports network. This would be a step in the right direction. They tried to buy Disney last year. So, I guess if you can't buy them. Build your empire and one day mop the floor with them. 5 years from now Comcast Sportsnet could easily be not only a national sports channel, but knock ESPN off its throne. Now, the whole Monday night football thing makes more sense. Almost, like a pre emptive strike.

"New Record!"

Tropical Storm Franklin has set a record fo named storms in the month of July. The peak of hurricane season is still roughly 4 weeks away, and we are already on the letter F. Although, these storms have been strong, they have mostly fizzled once they hit land. They could have been a lot worse. Even the resent Emily who hit Mexico broke apart easily.

Meanwhile, record highs are showing up all over the country. The ocean in New England the great lakes are near 10 degrees above normal.

Do you think this is Global Warming in action? Or just a hot freaky summer?

"Crosby a Ranger?"

So the NHL Exteme will hold its draft a week from Saturday. But since there was no last season they must have a lottery. Which will occur on Friday to detemine the order of the teams.

Now each team gets 3 balls for the lottery, but loses one for each playoff appearance in the last 3 seasons. However, they all must have one. Translation the Flyers will have one ball bouncing around. The Rangers will have 3. Now whoever gets number one will take Sidney Crosby, because he is said to be the best player to be drafted since Super Mario. I cant recall the last time an hockey player got this much hype before the draft.

We should know Friday afternoon, but there I really think Crosby is going to be Ranger. Simply, because its the biggest market, and I think they may rig this thing.

Summer Movie Files 204: Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four doesn't have the brand name power that Spiderman or Batman has. In fact during the peak of my comic book reading days I would guess I read a total of two issues of this title.

Never the less Comic book movies are the Hollywood trend right now. Several years ago we merely had the Superman and Batman movies. However starting in the late 90s the trend caught fire so we have almost an entire bell curve ot the comic book films.

Of course that means there are some let downs such as Spiderman. In addition some real dogs that usually merit one viewing such as Sin City, and even worse the Hulk in which the film makers forgot that comic book movies are supposed to be fun.

At any rate I knew very little of the origin story of The Fantastic Four and altough Im told it was altered a bit, it was certainly a good starting point for viewers who know know the story. In fact 80 percent of the movie is the four soon to be super heros trying to figure out their powers, and the best way to deal with them.

Apperently a space storm of some sort altered their DNA and gave them all different powers. One can turn transparent, another morphed into a huge rock type thing, another get fly short distance and turn into a ball of fire, and yet another can stretch his limbs to the extereme.

Although, it may lack the heart the say Richard Donner's Superman or the creative vision of Tim Burton's Batman it is still wildly entertaining. Playing out almost like X-men lite. Packed with more jokes than the X-men, but that is part of the fun.

There is not much of a show down between the villian and the fantastic four, but that in this case is a refreshing change since that part of the film usually drags. Sure it might be mainly a B-cast, but the acting is pretty good for this type of film.

The movie is generally a fun 2hours in the theater. Oh, yeah and Jessica Alba looks great. I already forgave her for Sin City.

"Summer Movie File 203:Be-Witched"

I spend many a summer or sicks day from school watching old sitcoms. Although I always prefered I dream of jeanie I did watch Be-witched quite a few times.

Be-witched the latest movie that Hollywood figured to convert into a major motion picture was released a few weeks ago. Instead of a straight remake, the movie was about a washed up actor being cast as the male lead in an updated verision of the sitcom. The actor played by Will Ferell has an agenda to make the husband Darren the center of attention. So, he insists that a no-name (Nicole Kidman) is cast as his wife, based on the fact the can do the nose thing.

The catch of the film is, that ironically enough the unkown actress was more or less roped into acting by Ferell and turns out to be an actor witch herself. Micheal Caine plays her father, and the over worked actor looks like he is about to kill himself as he sleep walks from scene to scene.

The film gives some insight on all the re-tooling down to tv show before it even airs. Although, the screenplay gets murky at times to how many shows were filmed.

The movie morphs into a love story involving the two leads. Which is the first time that Will is molded as a romantic lead. In order to achieve this his antics are watered down a bit, and he comes accross more as a flawed charcter than walking bag of jokes.

The film veers in an really unfunny direction when Daily Show Alumni Steve Carrel shows up as the whacky Uncle Arthur. In fact its the supporting cast that sinks this film more than anything. Although filled with some talent the cast is misused and lacks purpose. Im convinced Jason Schwartzman will never return to Rushmore form. In addition Shirely Macline borders on annyoance (I guess thats the point) as the actress who plays the mother on on the new sitcom. Fellow Daily Show Alumni Steve Colbert and In Living Color David Alan Grier ought to fire their agents for such lousy parts devoid of anything funny to do. Grier would be better off playing the lead in straight to video movies.

A good movie stays with you a long time. This was one was a mass of fuzzy memories by the time my alarm went off the next morning. Despite some funny scenes (most notably Ferrell ranting about how his female co-star got better ratings with test audicences despite havign zero lines) the film is very disposable. Yeah, it brought in a fair share of green, but in a few years it will be tucked in the bargin bin totally forgotten. Even prat boy Ferrell worshipers are likey to use the DVD as a coaster for their beer as they chose to watch the much better Elf or Old School.

"Sometimes You Know Them"

Over the fourth of July weekend there was a terrible accident towards the shore on the Black Horse Pike (322) near route 50. A car full of teenaged girls speed into and flipped over a medium slamming into another car in the opposite lane.

In the other car were two woman. One of which lived right across the street from me my entire life. The car with the teenage girls burst into flames and all 5 people were killed.

It's amazing how many articles fill the local papers of such accident, but it is really different when you know them.

I have been over that strech of road several times. I cant imagine how fast the young girls must have been going to flip over the medium.

Now I wasnt really close with the woman. However, she had a comcial unspoken compeition to beat my mother with house decorations for each holiday. If one put decorations up for the next holiday on the calendar with in an hour or so the other one would have their stuff up.

"March of the Hurricanes"

By weeks end we will be past the letter D in named storms for the hurricane season. Thats pretty far through the order for early July. Could we get to Z this year? Of course people on messages boards are already pondering if it is the end of the world. I read on post on AOL that seriously blamed President Bush for the pending storms.

Anyway Cindy is heading for the Louisiana area. Meanwhile Dennis is heading towards Florida. Could be the 5th hurricane to hit the state in less than a year. At this point neither are actually hurricanes, but tropical storms.

Here is the track of Cindy. Hopefully it rains the entire weekend, beause I will be "on call" for mywork the whole weekend. In a nutshell I am that annoying guy on the cell phone that you see out at the mall. Hopefully mother nature does me a favor and makes everyone's elses weekend suck.

"Forever Is a Long Time Coming"

If a hockey league returns from a lockout and its not on TV for fans to see it, does it have a CBA?

The NHL may have gone extreme, but unless they find a new home on cable soon it won't matter much nationally. Regionally, most fans should be fine, and theres always the hockey package.

However, ESPN is either going to play hardball and get the games for a song. Or, they have totally lost interest in the sport they stood behind longer than most people thought they should have. Who can blame them if they balk? Poker gets better ratings and is a lot cheaper to produce.

NBC takes over what ABC kind of had for years. Late season games and some playoffs. However, other than that they are wandering around with out a TV home.

Perhaps since they are going more extreme and in your face they will knock on the door of the fleding Spike Network which just landed Howard Stern. Some experts say that on bad move and they sport could fail into the pile with Lacrose and indoor soccer. Read more here.

"Superman Returns Poster"

Yeah, pretty much what the title of the post said.

SWEEEEET.

Hope there is teaser soon. Perhaps before Fantastic Four, but I would think more than likely before the Harry POtter film also done by Warner Brothers.

Check it out.

"Movie Quotes"

I always mean to watch this every summer. I usually miss it. CBS ran it a few weeks ago.

AFI came out with the best movie lines this summer. I think its funny how the line Play it again, Sam. Was never actually uttered. People just recall the line wrong.

I think there should have been more lines from Jaws, and at least one from Ghostbusters.

Here are the quotes.

"The Slump Continues":

This has really got my interest. It could be almost as bad as when Movies were getting their butts kicked when TV first came out. Of course if you look at the numbers that these movies are doing its hard to see there is a slump at all.

See what I mean?

"NHL to go Extreme"

So, supposedly the NHL should make public their new CBA next week. A few weeks later than their intended Mid June deadline.

In case you didn't notice the a hockey player made national news since the first time someone almost killed someone on the ice. This time it was Jemery Roenick, who was seemingly disgruntled over his player's union not accepting a better offer back in the winter.

Gary Bettman kicked the union's ass. They are accepting an offer (supposedly) with a far lower salary cap than the one offered that almost resulted in a short season. JR mispoke when he said fans should understand that they are doing everything to improve the game. Well, not really. The fact that they didn't accept the owners offer which resulted in a lockout had nothing to do with improving the game at all. Just improving the player's wallets.

Under the new CBA there will be far less money to go around. But, don't worry every single player in the entire league will make far more in a year than most people make in 5 or more. JR also added that the fans who think the players are spoiled should kiss his ass.

Actually, since the NHL robbed us of a season and has been giving the middle finger to their loyal fans for almost a decade perhaps they should be kissing our asses. JR has tried to get out of hot water the days that followed it. Don't let him fool you, it was always about money. Most the players were perfectly willing to sit out an entire season. It wasn't untill they noticed no one in the world cared.

Anyway, when the game comes back they will make it more "extreme" and "in your face." The owners want to "take it to the max" with new rules that will drastically change the game. The NHL clearly could care less what their actual real loyal fans want.

The new rules will eliminate the red line for two line passes, making their purpose only for icing. Which should increase scoring with players cherry picking. Icing itself will be no touch like they play over seas. Which I always hated. This is so the players don't get boo-boos when they run into each other trying to wave off the icing.

They will also shrink goalie equipment.

However, the most drastic move it to eliminate all ties. The game till still go into a 4 on 4 OT like we are used to. Than at some point (not sure when) it will morph into a 3 on 3. Than if no one still scores they take it to the max and have a shootout. I am sure they will play loud club music and make it really EXTREME.

The standings will have shootout wins and losses instead of ties. Any goals registered during shootouts will not count at for the players scoring. However, its true the game will never be the same.

In addition supposedly, lots of different companies are going to produce team jerseys. The rumor is that many of the Jerseys will be more extreme and neon colored.

When I heard shootouts were likely to be offically added. I said to my father that I had watched my last hockey game. The game I loved is offically dead. Perhaps, that was a knee jerk reaction and I should give it a chance.

What does everyone think of the new rules?

"Almost Legal"

Ever check out a hot actress and think to yourself...should I be checking her out? Is she even legal? Well here is a list and some one with more internet skills and time on their hands was nice enough to put countdowns for many of the girls out there.

Oh its pretty wrong, but its funny.

"Lame Office"

The box office sales at the movies are pretty miserable. They are saying the lowest since 1985. Anyone have any theories on this? One of mine which I haven't seen yet is the actual price of movie tickets. I mean for two people its pretty close to $20 at night without even eating anything.

Or is it simply the movies out just suck that bad? Any theories loyal readers?

"The Machines Will Rise"

The line just got more blurred. 2015 is around the corner. For those of you don't know that is the agreed upon year of the end of the world. My friend Dan has a theory that machines and ovely advanced technology will be the down fall of all humanity. Our creations will in turn destory us.

"Could Arlene Spoil Petty?!?"

Well a lot of us are checking out the Black Crowes and Tom Petty concert in Camden (although Im sure one or both performers will say we are in Philly) and its an outside concert so weather is a concern.

I have to say im worried about the remains of tropical storm Arlene. The storm is fizzling out, but it will still be a huge cluster of rain by the time it hits New Jersey. Considering the path it's taking going through the country then up to the north east, its very possible the rain from it could take as long as Friday to get here. Even if it gets here earlier than that these systems have a tendency to linger.

On the other hand it might be good, because the additonal travel of the storm could weaken it. It will also have to over mountains which helps tear apart systems occasionally. Tucker's World will keep you posted.

"How Sweep It Is"

The Philly Phantoms the farm team of the soon to be to offically defunct NHL team the Flyers won the calder cup last night. So, that means they are the champions of the AHL. The won before in 1998 with netmind Neil Little being the only player to be on both teams. Of course, this won't count to end the drough. I wouldn't count it. Would any one?

The team sold out the INSERT BANK name here center in South Philly. Of course the game wasn't on TV, but they are having a party in the parking lot on Monday.

The Phantoms won the series in 4 games flat. Maybe, they should just move into the bigger building next year, and destory the spectrum.

"Garden State Shark Attack!"

The first reported shark attack ironically enough for the first time since the year Jaws was released happened Weds. A 19-yearold dude was surfing when he got bitten on the foot. Its thought that it was baby great white shark. Likely 6 feet in length. It occurred in Surf City on Long Beach Ilsand, which is just north of Atlantic City.

Shark story.

There are also a bunch of bears running around our great state. Another one bear broke into a home in North Jersey, and was shot. At least the first one apparently was just on route to America's favorite Playground. Perhaps he was hoping to him them, say..COME ON DOWN! At the fake price is right at Showboat. I am sure the bear is more likely to do that than we are this summer.

"Down to One"

The Philly Phantoms are one win away from winning it all. They took a commanding 3-0 lead in the Calder Cup Finals earlier tonight with goals from Patrick Sharp and Mike Richards. Game 4 which could be the clincher will actually be aired Friday night. So would game 5 if needed Saturday night. Both games are in philly.

"Heat is On"

Today (weds) was the hotest day in two years. 94 degrees! It's going to be hot, hot, hot for awhile.

When will the simmer end?

"Summer Flood-Gates"

Well despite May feeling like a wasteland of dampness and below normal tempeatures, Summer has arrived. Okay, not offically by the calendar, but lets face it Summer for the most part starts Memorial Day weekend. Not to mention May is usually a fairly hot month.

Well the weather has offically broken and highs in the 90s and the upper 80s are upon us all week. No turning back now.

So, yeah Sunday was really the first day that "felt" like a summer day. I am sure most people like me have certain CDS the like to break out during such weather.

Great summer bands I find to be are Weezer, Travis and Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers. It doesn't get much better than hearing "In to the Great Wide Open" while heading down to the shore.

I am sure everyone else has certain CDS are bands they have to hear on hot summer days. For the record the best summer Petty CD is Wildflowers, and I just crank up my Live Weezer CD from 5 years ago.

Enjoy the heat readers. Tomorrow, we will hit 90 again. If we hit 90 again Weds, if offically a heatwave. Its highly, doubtful but it could be our first of the year. Check it out.

"Angelo's Anger"

Radio personalities Angelo Cataldi and Howard Eskin are going toe-to-toe. You would think that they were on rival radio stations. Actually they are both on 610 WIP. I am not sure how it started(and it wasn't the first fight), but Howard really pissed off Angelo.

Not only does Angelo deny this being a cheap radio stunt, he has recently ripped into Howard on this webpage. It reminds me of the old crewblog days when we would just cut each others throats in cyber space. Perhaps Lima Beanz ghost wrote this one.

Could be interesting to see what happens. Howard recently left NBC 10 News, where he anchored on the weekends, and can be seen as a judge on UPN 57's Gimme the Mike. A low budget local American Idol.

"Phantom's Menace "

While a bunch of millionaires NHL people bicker over spiliting millions and millions of dollars for a game that middle class hard working people pay out the nose for, the AHL (American Hockey League) still actually has hockey games. Not only that, but hockey starved fans in the area are in as about as much luck as you can be with a lockout. The Philly Phantoms are in the Calder Cup Finals against the Chicago Wolves who belong to both Flordia and Atlanta of the NHL. Friday Night Micheal Richards (Giddy Up) scored the loan goal to put the team up one game to none.

Last night long time Phantoms defense man (and one of your's truelys fav AHL journeymen) scored in regulation which was tied at one after 3 periods of play. The teams needed double overtime to determine a winner. Partrick Sharp scored early in the 2nd OT. Of course, he waited untill I had my back to the tv screen to do so,during a rare Phantoms telecast. So, now the men in purple are up 2 games to zip. In a bizzarre set-up, despite not having "home ice advantage" the Phantoms get to play 3 straight game on home ice with 2-0 lead. They may have been happy with a split, but now they have the wolves backs against the walls. Depite the close games, the Wolves have been seemingly flat in the two games mustering only one goal.

Games 5,6, and 7 if they are even needed will be broadcast. However, Rick and I are considering going to see game 3 which would be Weds. night at 7pm in the Watch Over You center. Perhaps getting club box seats which run between 20 and 30 bucks, to see this game. Anyone, interested in going?

Oh yeah and props to the Trenton Titans (the level below the Phantoms) of the ECHL on winning the kelly cup!

Quick Random AHL facts:

The Hershey Bears who used to be the Flyers affilate hooked up with the Colorado Avalanche when the Phantoms were born. This past month the Lanche dumped them, and the Washington Capitials scooped them up.

Neil Little is the only remaining player from the 1998 Calder Cup Champs on the Phantoms

John Slaney, despite being one of the best defensmen in the AHL for a number of years, has never won a professional championship. Slaney, may be famliar to NHL fans since he had stints with the Flyers, and Penguins.

The Calder Cup is named after Frank Calder, the first NHL president who if credited for bringing hockey to major US cities. He held that job from 1917- 1943. A trophy named after him is also given to the NHL's rookie of the year. Currently the active team with the most cups is the Hershey Bears who have won 8, with their last cup in 1997. The Calder Cup has been around for 68 years.

"The Phillies Rise From the Dead"

In case you haven't noticed and judging by the attendance you havent. The Philadelphia Phillies have actually managed to win some games. In fact despite still being in last place in their entire divison they are only 1.5 games out of the first spot! So, after all the belly aching, and hatred spewed at them and their fans bascially wanting to burry the team alive, they still have a shot of a post season life.

Considering the fact that its early June, the even notion of talking about the playoffs is still absurd. However, things were looking pretty grim for the fighting Phils for a month and half and it looked as if the season could have just been a fromality by the end of this month had they not turned things around.

I am no baseball expert, but from what I understand their divison is farily lousy. Well you don't have to be an expert to notice in the standings (at the time I write this anyway) they have merely on less win than the first place Braves.

So, hatred of the owner aside. It's as if the first quarter of the season never happened standing wise. With the divison so tight. The Phillies won both games of their double-header last night, and things are a lot brighter. It's as if the Phillies have risen from the dead.

"NJ Sucks;Philly Smokes"

This guy sure thinks so,. Also it appears the Philly smoking ban may not be done deal after all. Of course by the time you read this it might be a moot point.

"Summer Movie File 202: The Longest Yard"

It's fitting that Adam Sandler's movies usually are released in the summer. Because, they generally have the same feeling of just chilling out on a lazy summer afternoon. Sandler's latest effort is a remake of the 1970's flick the Longest Yard. The film tells the tale of football showdown between the prisoners and prison guards. Sandler, plays an ex-quarter back NFL star. One has to get past the absurdity of casting Sandler in such a role, and just accept it for a comic vehicle the better. The film seems closer to 50 first dates or Anger Mangement( the same director as both ) in its slightly darker tone than his earlier films like BIlly Madison.

The film actually uses violence in a more realistic way than most Sandler films. The film also deals with racial slurs and tensions which give it an unexpected edge. The actual screenplay isn't anything new. Basic under dog story, but in these kinds of comedies its the journey not the destination. Sitting back watching the actors zing one another, and cringing at the bone crushing hits and major hurts put on each other during games and practices.

The movie also co-stars fellow SNL alumni Chris Rock. Rock has yet to have a run away hit with a leading role. Fresh off the god-awful Head of State which he also wrote and directed. Rock does what he does best, walks around and tells jokes. In fact his character is likely purposely uninvolved in any of the football scenes, so he can spew off his new material. He basically walks around during stand up comedy in the movie. Just playing himself, as if he took a wrong turn the stage at one of his performances and wondered on to the movie set. Rock hasn't played an actual character since New Jack City.

Regardless, the movie exists to make you route for people and the everyman Sandler. I guess it worked since people were cheering during "the big game" at the showing I went to. Lots of the Sandler regulars are MIA, but the guy who looks like col. sanders and cloris leachman who stared with Sandler in Spanglish provide the "random Sandler" humor. Burt Reynolds also appears who was in the original one. It's more a less a throw away role which might disappoint fans of the original.

Sandler's career is certainly at interesting point. Almost as if he is playing the field after getting rave reviews playing parts in deeper films such as Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish. Showing off a better range. Regardless, Sandler is one of the few comic actors that is almost always worth spending your time with.

"Devil of a Time in Newark"

So if the NHL ever rises from it's ashses the New Jersey Devils will head a tad south. To Newark, leaving the swamps of the medow lands behind. An assemblymen in NJ, would like them to leave their "Demonic" name there too. He would like them to change it, the owners of the hockey team are saying fat chance.

Judging by his quote the politican is getting the Jersey Devil confused with the fallen angel from the bible. The Devils aren't named after satan himself, but after the Jersey Devil. Of course imagine people across the country who likely never heard fo the demonic creature that roams the pine barrens might be a bit confused. Perhaps they think its just named after the people who run the state.

Anyway, hopefully they keep their name. I always thought the Carolina Hurricanes was a much more morbid name. Think about it, lets name our team after the weather elimate that casues constant death and destuction to our state! At least the Jersey Devil hasn't been confirmed to kill anyone. Would anyone like me to blog about the legend?

Anyway go read this at ESPN.

"Tucker's Drunk Friends"

It seems that I am cursed with drawling the drunk wierdo people to me when I go out with my friends.

Just last night, some old guy up at Sharkey's kept asking me if I thought he could kick the ass of rather large man sitting on the other side of the bar. THe rather large man was a guy I went to High School with, and he is roughly the size of Camden County.

Later that night he drunkenly came over to his arm around Jason and me and slurred his words and went on about the three of us trying to take on the large man. Thankfully his wife or whoever she was made him leave.

Later that night a guy came up to me and put his arms all around me asking if I used to drive a blue escort. I did for a few years back in highschool and my first semester of college. Now I had no idea who this guy was, but he clearly knew me. Apperently, he graduated a year after me at the same school. He either always wanted to kick my ass, or wanted me in gay. Judging by the way he drapped his drunken arms on me. Akwardly embracing me.

A few years back Steve and I were at the Wick on THanksgiving. Wow, that sounds really sad when I type it. Anyway I had to break the seal so I went to the restroom. There was a dude already in there pissing in the urnial next to the one that I would use. Steve came in, because I guess he had to go to. I saw him come in the door and since it was a small bathroom.

I said" THeres no room"

Now this really bugged out the stranger pissing next to me. You would have thought I had just told him how he was going to die. He started bugging out.

"What man?!?!" No room?"

When Steve got in there. THe guy told him "Your friend is wierd man"

We left that place, and he was just looking at me saying. What do you mean no room?

Oh, Liza, her friend Megan and boyfriend were at Barons one night. This guy sat next to me, and kept telling me how he was going to go out and dance. He also kept asking if Liza and Megan "hated" him. LIkely because, they didnt want to make eye contact. THen he moved over adn sat net to me and shook my hand. Most of what he was saying was unable to be understood any sober person.

Also, this large 6 foot rabbit named Harvey that follows me all around town...

"Summer Movie Files: 201--- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

The final installment (production wise) of the Star Wars saga hit theaters this weekend. Now I didn't hold the first two prequel in the same regard as the original trilogy. In fact I thought Phantom was pretty bad, and Attack of the Clones although an improvement was far below the quality of the original films. Mainly, I felt the heart, characters, dialogue and the special effects were a huge let down. Even more importantly they were just entertaining while the others got emotionally involved in the story and lives of what a appeared on the screen.

Revenge of the Sith is hard to compare with the other films, because the tone is different. Its more a tragic tale than uplifting adventure. The story has few surprises, but sheds light on how Darth Vader came to be. So, its sort of hard to route for the hero of the first two films anymore, considering he is about to become a ruthless killer.

Revenge of the Sith gets off on shaky foot. With General Grievous, a character apparently fleshed out in the 30 minute cartoon released in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. That was supposed to fill in some events. I understand he is hurt in a battle, and that is why he coughs. This is never explained in the film. So, the entire time I just figured in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, that there was also a shortage of flu shots once. He also is up there with Darth Mull as must over-hyped villains. I just think it doesn't really fit when everyone jumps all around and bounces off stuff like pinballs, then in the future the original series they fight a lot more like regular humans.

It's when action sequence to start the film ends that the film hits the ground running. Revenge of the Sith is good enough to make you ALMOST forgive Phantom Menace, and it better film than Attack of the Clones. We get to see "the chosen one" being pulled in both directions. Good or evil. It makes you appreciate attack of the clones a little more after seeing this.

The film pacts an emotional wallop. Although Empire Strikes Back was a dark film, Revenge of the Sith is filled with even more sadness. The other two films were just mindless entertainment. This story is actually involving.

We know there are only two Jedis by Star Wars, so expect some major violence. Hence the PG-13 rating.

The movie will never take up the same place in my heart that the original trilogy does. However, regardless its a great film, and lived up to its expectations in my book. The acting is an improvement, and yeah the love story is still forced, but it all comes full circle. I respect how the film didn't pull any punches. Although, the killing off an important character was pretty hooky.

The film lead up to the original quite nicely. In fact today like many I am sure I went and popped in the DVD of Star Wars. Yes, I refuse to call it a new hope.

Despite a few flaws, there is a lot of the film that stayed with me over a day after I saw the film. Which is always a good sign. They really bounced back with this one. Oh, and I find it odd after what Drew said. Since more than half the theater was clapping at the end of the film. I can't imagine everyone loathed the film at his screening and clapped at the one I went to.

"50 Million and Counting"

The new Star Wars flick is making insane money. Friday the film made 50 million bucks already. On a related note I will be seeing the film this weekend. That will bring back the Summer Movie Files reviews. Drew saw it already, and said it was awful. That everyone in the entire theater loathed the film and wanted to blow their brains out in the parking lot.

"Death of TV shows"

While the sweeps wars are going on for the major networks they are also releasing their fall line ups for the 05-06 season. Some notable shows are getting axed.

ABC: My Wife and Kids (dont care), 8 Simple Rules (lasted almost two full seasons after the star John Ritter died), Eyes (poor Tim Daly).

CBS Listen up (Jason Alexander's sitcom which was far funnier than Yes, Dear!, which was renewed oddly after being on haitus almost all season), Joan of Arcadia (never watched it), and of course Everybody Love Raymond was retired. Two and a Half Men will slide into their time slot.

NBC: The New Law and Order Show, and Relvations.

WB: Cancelled Jack and Bobby, which was a shame since it was really good show. They lost me as a viewer when the flipped to Wednesday Nights though. IT was very interesting and politically motivated.

...and at the last minute FOX which should release their lineup soon. Dediced to renew Arrested Development.

"Gaming Wars"

All 3 major game systems are going to release their newest editions by the end of 2006. The following is cut and pasted from a USA today article by a certain rather lazy blogger that should remain nameless.

The players are in place for the next video game battle of the big guns.
Nintendo reveals details Tuesday of its new system, code-named Revolution, after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 3 console Monday and Microsoft's unveiling of Xbox 360 on an MTV special last Thursday.

All the action is taking place before the annual E3 Expo, which begins Wednesday. The three gaming giants will unveil the systems there.

Microsoft is expected to have the Xbox 360 in stores first, in time for the holidays. Nintendo and Sony will follow in 2006. No prices have been set, and release dates have not been locked in.
Nintendo, whose GameCube sales have lagged, hopes to gain ground, particularly among the fast-growing older-gaming market. Revolution is about the size of a stack of three DVD cases and has no visible knobs, buttons or ports for joysticks. The system will use only wireless controllers, and it sits flat or stands vertically.

With its front-loading slot for discs, it will play games on full-size DVDs as well as older GameCube games on mini-DVDs. Like Xbox and PlayStation 2, it will play DVD movies.
Nintendo, which mostly ignored the Net with GameCube, also is catching up with the online wave. Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Xbox Live, that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game - from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshine. (Nintendo hasn't decided whether downloading will be free.)
Xbox spokesmen have pointed out that 360's specifications are 10 to 13 times more powerful than those of the original Xbox; Sony said Monday that the processor in Play-Station 3, which will come in several colors and be out next spring, will be 35 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.

Nintendo makes more modest claims that Revolution is two or three times more powerful than GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."

Analyst Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group says one of Revolution's chief advantages is that designers will find it far easier to create games for Revolution than for competing systems. "They do not need to make major changes from the games they were designing," he says. "They have better performance without having to do a lot of extra work."

Says Kaplan: "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming,' " a term Nintendo uses to mean the system is easily adapted to by both gamers and designers. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."

"Box Office Big Boys"

Came across this reading Roger Ebert's review of Kicking and Screaming. Thought it was pretty intresting. Enjoy.

"Will Ferrell is now a major movie star, with nine more new movies in the pipeline. I learn of his status from the industry analyst David Poland, who has crunched the numbers and come up with the "real" list of box office heavyweights. He says top 10 stars in terms of actual ticket sales are, in order: Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks, Eddie Murphy, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell and Denzel Washington. The highest-ranking woman on the list is Reese Witherspoon, at No. 12."

"Flag on the Play at Echelon"

Well it would seem the zoning laws that were pushed through last fall to get the ball rolling to build a free standing Wal-Mart to bring the Echelon Mall back from the dead weren't pushed through after all. A few weeks ago it was learned that some legal jurkon lead to realization that the approval of the zoning was actually void. It was never legal to begin with.

So, PREIT has been dealt a major set back. Now they have to get the entire zoning approved before they can even get to the stage they were at earlier this spring. Eventually, they could just tell the good people to pound sand. Or in the words of a former manager of mine during my retail days.

"Suck off, and Die!"

Here is an article from Monday's Courier post.

"Flag on the Play at Echelon"

Well it would seem the zoning laws that were pushed through last fall to get the ball rolling to build a free standing Wal-Mart to bring the Echelon Mall back from the dead weren't pushed through after all. Here is an article from Monday's Courier post.

"Sleep"

I am getting ready to go to bed. Nothing beats that one moment when you first climb into bed for the night. A whole night of sleep in front of you. Just getting ready to be out like a light. Wrap yourself up in your covers and shut your brain off. After 25 years, its still on of my favorite things to do.

"Summer Movie Wasteland"

It would seem that Hollywood is going to be on auto pilot this summer. MOst the movies coming out are remakes, sequels, or lame attempts to cash in on old TV shows.

First off we have the Honeymooners coming out with Hollywood felt needed to be "urbanized" so they cast Cedric the Enterainer in the Jackie Gleason part. This might pissed people off casting black people as white people. I guess people have a point I don't see Eugene Levy playing Shaft anytime soon. I am more pissed that Cedric the Entertainer who I think is funny, is being so lame in the films he picks. I watched his show both weeks it was on before it got cancelled, why not write your own funny characters? Instead of trying to cash in on comedy legend's character from 5 decades ago? How very lame.

Second, we have a Bewitched movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrall, which a really idotic premise. Don't forget the Batman movie where we learn the start of the legend. Anyone that actually read the comic in their life is tired of hearing this story. The entire concept was summed up in a few scenes in Tim Burton's 1989 film. Not to mention its a mostly british cast with a british director. Next years SUperman film is being filmed in Australia, are we out sourcing our super heros too?

The House of Wax looks like a lame slasher flick which stole the name from a Vincent Price classic. With Paris Hilton no less. I am told that theaters cheered when she got ofted. Throw in Speilberg air lifting the War of the Worlds to make it his own. TIm Burton remaking Willy WOnka, and a Star Wars pre-quel. No one had a original idea this summer?

Supposedly 8 horror movies are being released, and I saw a few trailers for other fantasy films that visually look like they just want to be the Next Harry Potter.

Oh yeah and Peter Jackson remade King Kong. Altough I am not sure if thats still coming out this summer.

I am looking forward to the Star Wars film. THe only other two is the Bill Murray flick broken flowers in August, and the Euguene Levy/Samuel L Jackson teaming "The Man" due out labor day weekend.

Maybe I am just being negative, but it looks pretty bad right now.

"Michael Bay to Direct Transformers Movie"

Dreamworks has announced that Michael Bay best known for pearl Harbor and Armegeddon will helm the Untitled Transfromers project. The director is hated by many for those two films alone. Neither which that I have seen.

However, since the cartoon was extremely fast paced and action packed full of explosions. I am sure that's what the film is going to be like, and thats Bay's trademark. Bay hit the big time while teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer early in his career with crowd pleasers like The Rock, and Bad Boys. He returned two years ago to direct the Bad Boys sequel.

Bay's next film, The Ilsand is his first film not made with Bruckheimer. It is rumored to be a bit different than his typical fare. Perhaps that rumor is fueled soley by the casting of Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johanson.

Some people are pissed about Bay directing the Transformers film. However, from the studios point of view its a great choice. Everything he touches turns to gold. As long as they stay faithful to the characters and make their voices sound remotely simliar I will be happy. I am told Megatron will transform into a tank now, because they won't market a robot that turns into a gun anymore. Damn liberals.

"See Hillary Run"

A year ago or so when I was hearing and reading a lot that Hillary Clinton would try to make a bid for the White House in 2008, my friend Drew said to me, "Ah that's hogwash, only right wing people think she will actually run." Then I started searching my back for wings.

Anyone, as a former PR student I have an eye for when people are trying to change their image. Suddenly, Hillary Clinton is trying to act a little more to the right then she was. Also, many people who are democrats seem to think she is the front runner for the 2008 bid.

Now Drew, and the people that blew me off I can't imagine could really simply rule out this possibility. Whether or not shes going to get the nomination is another story. I thought it was a good idea for the Democrats before I saw Bush overcome Kerry, which I really didn't think was going to happen. If all those southern and mid-west states couldn't accept John Kerry, would they accept a woman president?

I don't mean to turn it into the battle of the sexes here. Although, I have friends who think that a female should never be in that position of power. However, the people in that part of the country are a bit more old fashioned, and you wonder if even if she's more qualified for the job then whoever she runs against that she will win less states than Kerry.

Is this a smoke screen? Or are the democrats going to put it all on the line like a poker game? Put all their chips and hope it pays off.

Speaking of John Kerry. Remember he kept saying "I have a plan!" during the election? When usually asked about it he said he had to vote for him to find out. Well seeing as where he is still technically getting paid to serve his country. Why not tell us what his kick-ass plan was? Perhaps it was all a bluff? If not why is he refusing to share this brain storm with the rest of the world.

"Tucker vs KYW"

For anyone that taped Survivor last night and didn't watch it for whatever reason. Don't read this!

Tucker is pissed, but first read the back story. I was actually going to slam them before tonight for simliar reasons.

So in the Philly/ South Jersey region Action News on Wpvi 6 (ABC affilate) has been the top rated local news show over and over again. Which is why they have such a slow turn over of talent. Action News is as Philly as the soft pretzel. Try as they might WACU 10 (NBC Affilate) and KYW 3 (CBS affilate) have not been able to kick WPVI's Action News off the hill. Okay NBC 10 won a sweeps period a few years ago. HOwever, usually the two channels are so far behind they end up fighting for 2nd place.

In the past few years KYW 3's Eye Whitness News as tried to marketself as the #1 show local news channel and tried to take on ACtion News. They even lured WPVI's veteran Marc Howard to their broadcast team which really gave them a shot in the arm. He has since moved to the evening broadcast.

Anyway, KYW 3 has taken full advantage of their highly rated CBS aired shows such as CSI. and Survivor the later is related to why this rant is here. Let me give you two shamless examples of KYW trying to get viewers of their shows afraid to flip to their prefered news show.

One was during sweeps recently. They promised bloopers of their talent. I thought that could be funny. SO I watched. Sadly, they weren't Bloopers. It was simply old footage of their talent working in other cities with bad hair and entry level jobs. Or Besley Resse dancing off camera. A few old commericals, and to top it all off their #1 was a Larry Mendte (their #1 Anchor) where he got his faced pissed in by is kid on the Dr. Phil show. But, it was fake piss, which means it was a skit, not a blooper.

The 2nd one was a few weeks ago when we all thought the Delware River Whale had gone out toe sea. They said "Sad News for Whale Watchers"; and the tone was serious. OF course the promo ran at top of the broadcast and we didn't learn if the whale had gone belly up or not till half way till Letterman. I actually fell for that one for like 3 minutes. I am ashamed.

Tonight, they really crossed a line. 15 mins into a already delayed Survivor they boasted having a contestant Stephanie's back story and family on the news tonight. The reason being shes a Philyl resident. Okay, what reason would they randomly decide to that if the show had not just started, or she won the million bucks a show that won't air for a a few more weeks. Well clearly, because she was voted off, and it turns out I was right. Anyone with even a quarter of a brain that wasn't out taking a whizz or making a sandwitch during that commerical set might as well turned off their tv.

So if your as pissed as I am. Or even pissed about the concept. Email the local affliate and rant to them! http://kyw.com/feedback/ Don't forget to say in your e-mail that you are going to just watch ACtion NEws now. That really chaps their ass. Larry Mendte also has a blog, so you can send him a message

Just thats just wrong. EYE WHITNESS NEWS>>>>>>>BANNED!

"The Rhode to Hate is Paved with Air"

My friend Drew went on a rant on his blog (the reason God invented blogs) about how some right wing leaning blog writers were saying they were glad a woman died. The woman was someone I had never heard of in my entire life, but apparently a well respected liberal of some sort. Drew said that it was MORE a right wing thing to be full of hate and what night. I respectfully disagreed. If anything I think the left wingers are more likely to resort to these type of bizarre hatred towards public figures they dislike and more likely to cheer them meeting the reaper.

Recently in the news something along those lines has happened. Of course you likely haven't heard about it since its getting less press than a Phantoms game. Randi Rhodes who hosts a show on Air America a liberal themed radio station had a skit on her show about the President getting shot. I guess the murder of the president of the United States gets some laughes with their target audience. Yeah, thats right the anti-gun people made those jokes. This is far worse than saying, I am glad so and so is dead. Both are pretty low class, but this skid is just flat otu messed up.

I didn't get to hear the actual skit, but have a transcript. Anyway, before you RUSH to judgment let me inform you that I often times actually listen to Air America. Although, not as much recently since the low singal comes in annoyingly bad in the some of the places I am during the day.

Rhodes has since said she was sorry about it, however I am sure she knew about it coming on. Then again shes such an awful radio show host that maybe she didn't. I mean professionally she has one of the worst shows I have ever heard. She rambles all over the map, comes off as just a total bitch, and sometimes her is so erratic you wonder if shes on drugs. I have heard much more polished college radio talk shows. I can't imagine if Sean Hannity had a skit with gunshots intended for John Kerry.

In addition to her having no idea what it takes to run a professional radio show, shes just awful. She spews hate for several hours. If I ever met her I would get a large sock fill it with quarters and whack her in the face with it.

So, anyway. The left wingers are more full of hate IMHO, and more likely to lower themselves to such awfulness. Oh, yeah the radio show is under a routine investigation.

"New Jersey Ghost Voices"

This link is to a page that contains (supposedly) audio of ghosts and some rather angry ones. These are tapes made my ghost investgators in New JErsey. So check it out. So waste your company's money and co-workers time. Or simply hog the computer lame so students can't get in to work on their finals.

Of course many of you might easily dimiss this stuff, however it doesn't mean that they can't be freaky or the very least entertaining.

Feel free to tip your blog writer on the way out.

"Super Sunday: The Look"

Here is a peak at the new Superman for the film due out next year. http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=2890

Also, there are rumors flying around that footage that Richard Donner shot with Marlon Brando for SUperman II will be used in this film. That is kind of out there so I am not sure I buy into that rumor.

Basically Superman and Superman II were shot at the same time. HOwever, production delays led them to just focus on the first one. After the first one was released Richard Donner (for reasons still mostly unknown) was fired. This caused a huge up roar from the cast.

Brando, was originally supposed to show up in the sequel even though he was only in the first film for 6 mins. He asked the producers for a share of the profits of the film and a more money, t hey said no. So, they couldn't use his scene. The scenes have been sitting somewhere in a vault for years. I would rather them be cleaned up and put back into Superman II though.

Oddly enough it would team up the late Brando with this On the Water Front Co-star.

"80"

For those of you who feared seeing any snow updates on this blog. This blogs for you. After last week with picture perfect weather, in addition to coldish night its going to feel a lot like summer. Its hitting 80 tomorrow (actually hit it today in some parts) and it will get even hotter on Weds. Some people think it could push 90!.

So, get out and buy me water ice and drop it by my house. The old crazy guy for Great Adventure is dancing on TV, lawn mowers are going, the odor of millions of grills and trips to the shore aren't far behind.

"Brocktoon"

I just love this SNL skit and saw it again recently on E!. I looked hard and long to find a link that would be able to provide the video of it, but came up empty handed. I did though find the transcript of it.

The skit was from the early 90's. It was when Tom Hanks hosted and his funny as hell in this skit. The link provides the actors who played in this skit. Including Phil Hartmen who delivered his lines really creepy, Chris Farely, Mike Meyers, and Tim Meadows.

The skit was about a group of people who are fans of the guy who played Mr. Belvedere on the late 80's sitcom. I laugh just reading the transcript of it. Needless to say the people who are at this meeting are a little off center. The exchange between Hanks and Farley is classic. ahttp://snltranscripts.jt.org/91/91sbelvedere.phtml

"Your My Slave"

So my nephew just loves this little oddly shaped baseball field near my house. He loves it even more now that they got rid of a the hockey rink (LOCKOUT) that was mainly used by weeded up skateboaders and people who for whatever reason love to smash glass bottles on cement. In place of the eye sore of a hockey ring (the nets were stolen 15 years ago at least so it had no purpose) a playground was built. Acutally they stoped and several feet of the ill-fated rink remains. Perhaps the glass smashers of my neighborhood have some sort of policitcal clout.

One thing he loves even more then that little ball field is the Transformers. Now I am not talking about the horribly drawn idiotic one shown now. I am refering to the original 1980's series now on DVD. Thanks mainly to his beloved uncle. One episode inparticular in the first season was entitled THE ULTIMATE DOOM. The 3-part epic had Megatron up to his old ticks trying to bring his home planet close to earth in order to take its energy. In order to aid him in his nasty plan he enlisted the help of an evil scientist who planted chips on humans behind their ears in order to make them mindless slaves.

One unlucky lad was Spark Plug the father of Spike. Believe me or not they are actually both humans. So, Spark Plug becomes a mindless slave. My nephew tells me about this show several times over the course of a visit. He even quotes the show and screams like poor Spark PLug does everytime the chip is turned on and his forced to do evil against his will.

So, recently he went to the ballfield with my mother and brothers wife. When he was there another kid showed up to play with his mother. THe kid was an african american boy, and well my nephew decided to quote the worse line he could have from the show.

He ran up to the poor kid and told him he was going to be HIS SLAVE. Of couse this awkard exchange in front of his mother (who was actually white) resulted in my sister in laws face turning redder then a Phillies ball cap.

The mother said something to the effect of not liking that kind of language.

Sometimes I wish I was an autobot. Hmmm...did I think that or type that? Ah, no matter.

"Insert Witty Blog Title Post Here"

People with quite a bit more free time then me and certainly a lot more money than this humble blogger have compiled a list of famous people who look better or worse on HDTV. Some people apperently show signs of age or bad skin easier. Makes you wonder if they will start air burshing films. I swear they did it for the Charlie's Angels Films. Anyway here is the list. Apperently, George Clooney is handsome in any format.

"Can I Get Some Lemonade?"

Sometimes I just hear lyrics wrong. I am sure everyone does and they know thats not the lyrics. Take the Black Crowes song "Remedy" when the background singers kick in they always sound like they are saying. "Can I get some Lemonade?" Given the warm sunny weather around these parts sure sounds good to me!

"The Core"

A lot of my science knowledge comes from the 80's cartoon Transfromers. In one of the earlier shows titled "The Core" Megatron got the constructicons to dig a huge hole in the earth in order to tap into the earth's energy. Earlier in the series most the shows revolved around the Depicitcons looking for energy sources.

Starscream was imedately against the noton since drilling into the planet would be like drilling into a large rock which would cause it to explode. Meagtron wouldn't have it and went through with his plan anyway. Sure, enough the Earth started to shake and end was maybe near. Optimus and Megatron were even forced to join forces in order to try and stop it.

Anyway, this is a long way to go provide you with a link that you likely won't ever click on. However, when I read this article about making a hole through the earth's crust. I wondered if they needed someone to buy them the DVD's of the Transformers. It's funny they seem to be doing it just for the heck of it.

Now, I really don't think the world would explode, but are they at least looking for Oil while there down there? After the earth's curst is the mantle. They didn't say if they were going to stop there or not. I think I will just be standing near the space bridge just in case.

"Who Wants to Take a Shot at Bettman?"

For those of you that still care (I doubt it's many at this point). Here is they update for the NHL lockout. Since it get almost no coverage at all it might still be news to some. The NHL offered a laughable offer if not down right insulting to the NHLPA with a cap of 37.5 million or so. Of course they rejected it.

So the union is all miffed at the NHL who said they would play next season with or without union players. Bascially using replacement players. The NHLPA then said they would take back all the money shelled out from their war chest to any player who becomes a scab. I really wouldn't want be to the guy who has to knock on Tie Domi's door to ask for thousands of dollars back if it comes to that.

The NHLPA didn't want to stop there since they haven't pissed enough groups of people off at this point. They also threatened to strip the certification for any agent who has a player cross the picket lines. Who knows if they can even do this, but after the draft was canceled neither side seems to even really know what the heck the rullings are on some things. This of course made the agents irrate who were saying basically that their job is to help their client get paid well for their job and find work. So, who is the NHLPA to tell them they can't do that? Hell their clients are all playing in Europe or the AHL with caps. So, why would the agent not want to get them a better paying gig?

So, if that another nail in the coffin of the NHL. I really see this getting to the point of no return if the situation isnt fixed by mid July. No Keith exageration here. The death of the league. How could Bettman say he was successful if they use scrubs and no one comes out to see no names play and the oweners all lose even more money. In fact thats what would happen, and I doubt the leauge would stay a float long enough for playoffs. So, anyone...who want to take a shot at GARY BETTMAN?

"PREIT Stalls Again"

For the 2nd time in as many months PREIT has pulled their intentions on putting their Wal-Mart/Echelon Mall plan to vote at the last minute. It was supposed to go up tomorrow, but it won't happen.

It's unclear wheather or not PREIT is throwing in the towel at this point. Going back to the drawling board, or just using a delay tactic to get the protesters to lose interest. The last opition it unlikely, since the last time they did the Anti-Wal Mart movement mushroomed with power.

The people are irrate over traffic, and seem content on the mall shutting its doors for good. Just recently, the children's photo store closed up. Also the Firestone tire store is rumored to be closing this week. The store was set to be knocked down for a gas station. However, if this plan falls through it will just add to the ever growing list of empty store in down town Voorhees.

PREIT certianly couldn't think they had a snowball's chance in hell to get their plan approved tonight so perhaps it was a good move. The SAVE VOORHEES movement continues to gloss over any mention of the dinning places or the new stores. They also fail to point out the lose of jobs that will occur when the mall offically closes. They also leave out how an entire empty mall would benefit the town.

Thinks were going to get heated for the meeting. Now it's just time sit in wait. Perhaps Wal-Mart wants to avoid addition bad press and isn't going to press the issue anymore. However, I can't imagine PREIT getting this far and rolling over dead.

For those of you that want the mall to stay open. Well as friend of mine used to always say.

"Even More Brutual"

It's not even Memorial Day yet (when the prices really start to climb) and you are hard pressed to find a place to sell you regular unleaded gas less then 2.00 a gallon. Sadly, NJ is the cheapest of them all. Prices keep climbing with no signs of letting up. Coming at a time when the economy is seemingly getting back on it's feet. Also the time when people are traveling for vacations and what not. Could these prices get out of hand and cripple the economy in ways we never saw?

"Seinfeld's Dad"

With all the news coverage going to the pope and the right to die/ live debate most people didn't even hear this. However the actor who played Jerry Seinfeld's father on the long running sitcom died of a cancer a week ago last Saturday. Kind of like when Earl Hindman who played Wilson on Home Improvement died last year I am surprised how little press it got.

The actor's name Barney Martin (heck even I had to look it up) was the second actor to play Jerry's dad. He replaced some thin dude with a come over who was only in the show pilot. He really nailed the role of Jerry's father. A few of my favoriate moments were when he was ranting about velcro and when he blurted out "Pinko Commie Rag" about the newsletter sent out in his retirement home.

Read his bio last week. Turns out he was once a private investigator, a WWII vet, and married to the same woman for since the 1940s. He also showed up on Murder She Wrote (I flipped past one day and he was wearing the same black thick framed glasses he would wear in the final season of seinfeld.) and he played the guy who Joey took over for to become the host of the Ranger Joe show.

Also, at the end of last week Frank"The Chicken Guy" Perdue passed away. Although, I swear he died sometime in the late 1990's.

Post some of your fav. Jerry's Dad moments if you have any.

"Pope John Paul, 1920-2005"

We saw it coming. Sad none the less the Pope is gone. On the bright side if you believe in heaven and hell (Its okay if you don't. ) you would agree that he is in better place now. He seemingly has been suffering for a long time. Don't know if any of my readers are catholic which it might have hit harder. Well now we get to see something that most of us were too young to see before or follow the naming of new pope. It will be different I think since he will likely be drastically younger than what we were used to. No reason to link an article, just pick up the paper, look on the net, watch the news channels for the next 72 hours. They will even have pictures unlike this humble blog.

"US to Cease to Exist by 2007; Says Koran"

Want the good news first? Well we don't have to worry about social security anymore. However, if you think this guy is right the bad news is we will all be killed in giant tidal waves on both sides of the country. This guy being a Koran Scholar who thinks are time is soon to be up. Claiming these tsunamis of Asia will look like a day at the beach for us. Claiming the sins of America going back to the murdering of the Indians will come back to haunt them. Of course I don't buy into it. Well read this little article.

"NHL to Have a 30 team playoffs in Late May"

Huge news. I just heard this at 610 WIP so, I have no links. HOwever, behind closed doors the NHL's two sides have come to an agreement and not only are ready for next season. They are planning to have tournment starting at the end of next month with all 30 teams!

It's unclear how they could actually figure out who will play who. Perhaps based on their standings from last season. They are having a press conference on Monday to clear all those questions.

Clearly, this is a bold move. Certainly, they actually see the WHA's tournment as a huge threat. Now that the NHL will have one of their own it's likely most players will past on the WHA tournment to be held in June. A huge blow the start up league.

Great news, I know many casual fans will mock them for throwing a HOCKEY tournment when the summer is about to start. But, hockey is hockey. Just remember that we will have a regular season next year anyway. So all is well.

Im really excited although obviously this Cup winner wont be as reveared as other ones, but still. Time to GET CUUUUUUUUUP Crazy.

APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, you fell for that didn't ya?
