It seems that I am cursed with drawling the drunk wierdo people to me when I go out with my friends.
Just last night, some old guy up at Sharkey's kept asking me if I thought he could kick the ass of rather large man sitting on the other side of the bar. THe rather large man was a guy I went to High School with, and he is roughly the size of Camden County.
Later that night he drunkenly came over to his arm around Jason and me and slurred his words and went on about the three of us trying to take on the large man. Thankfully his wife or whoever she was made him leave.
Later that night a guy came up to me and put his arms all around me asking if I used to drive a blue escort. I did for a few years back in highschool and my first semester of college. Now I had no idea who this guy was, but he clearly knew me. Apperently, he graduated a year after me at the same school. He either always wanted to kick my ass, or wanted me in gay. Judging by the way he drapped his drunken arms on me. Akwardly embracing me.
A few years back Steve and I were at the Wick on THanksgiving. Wow, that sounds really sad when I type it. Anyway I had to break the seal so I went to the restroom. There was a dude already in there pissing in the urnial next to the one that I would use. Steve came in, because I guess he had to go to. I saw him come in the door and since it was a small bathroom.
I said" THeres no room"
Now this really bugged out the stranger pissing next to me. You would have thought I had just told him how he was going to die. He started bugging out.
"What man?!?!" No room?"
When Steve got in there. THe guy told him "Your friend is wierd man"
We left that place, and he was just looking at me saying. What do you mean no room?
Oh, Liza, her friend Megan and boyfriend were at Barons one night. This guy sat next to me, and kept telling me how he was going to go out and dance. He also kept asking if Liza and Megan "hated" him. LIkely because, they didnt want to make eye contact. THen he moved over adn sat net to me and shook my hand. Most of what he was saying was unable to be understood any sober person.
Also, this large 6 foot rabbit named Harvey that follows me all around town...

Could the NHL's 2005-06 season's fate lie in the next few weeks? Perhaps according to ESPN, from what Bettman is saying.

"Summer Movie Files: 201--- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
The final installment (production wise) of the Star Wars saga hit theaters this weekend. Now I didn't hold the first two prequel in the same regard as the original trilogy. In fact I thought Phantom was pretty bad, and Attack of the Clones although an improvement was far below the quality of the original films. Mainly, I felt the heart, characters, dialogue and the special effects were a huge let down. Even more importantly they were just entertaining while the others got emotionally involved in the story and lives of what a appeared on the screen.
Revenge of the Sith is hard to compare with the other films, because the tone is different. Its more a tragic tale than uplifting adventure. The story has few surprises, but sheds light on how Darth Vader came to be. So, its sort of hard to route for the hero of the first two films anymore, considering he is about to become a ruthless killer.
Revenge of the Sith gets off on shaky foot. With General Grievous, a character apparently fleshed out in the 30 minute cartoon released in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. That was supposed to fill in some events. I understand he is hurt in a battle, and that is why he coughs. This is never explained in the film. So, the entire time I just figured in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, that there was also a shortage of flu shots once. He also is up there with Darth Mull as must over-hyped villains. I just think it doesn't really fit when everyone jumps all around and bounces off stuff like pinballs, then in the future the original series they fight a lot more like regular humans.
It's when action sequence to start the film ends that the film hits the ground running. Revenge of the Sith is good enough to make you ALMOST forgive Phantom Menace, and it better film than Attack of the Clones. We get to see "the chosen one" being pulled in both directions. Good or evil. It makes you appreciate attack of the clones a little more after seeing this.
The film pacts an emotional wallop. Although Empire Strikes Back was a dark film, Revenge of the Sith is filled with even more sadness. The other two films were just mindless entertainment. This story is actually involving.
We know there are only two Jedis by Star Wars, so expect some major violence. Hence the PG-13 rating.
The movie will never take up the same place in my heart that the original trilogy does. However, regardless its a great film, and lived up to its expectations in my book. The acting is an improvement, and yeah the love story is still forced, but it all comes full circle. I respect how the film didn't pull any punches. Although, the killing off an important character was pretty hooky.
The film lead up to the original quite nicely. In fact today like many I am sure I went and popped in the DVD of Star Wars. Yes, I refuse to call it a new hope.
Despite a few flaws, there is a lot of the film that stayed with me over a day after I saw the film. Which is always a good sign. They really bounced back with this one. Oh, and I find it odd after what Drew said. Since more than half the theater was clapping at the end of the film. I can't imagine everyone loathed the film at his screening and clapped at the one I went to.

"50 Million and Counting"
The new Star Wars flick is making insane money. Friday the film made 50 million bucks already. On a related note I will be seeing the film this weekend. That will bring back the Summer Movie Files reviews. Drew saw it already, and said it was awful. That everyone in the entire theater loathed the film and wanted to blow their brains out in the parking lot.

"Death of TV shows"
While the sweeps wars are going on for the major networks they are also releasing their fall line ups for the 05-06 season. Some notable shows are getting axed.
ABC: My Wife and Kids (dont care), 8 Simple Rules (lasted almost two full seasons after the star John Ritter died), Eyes (poor Tim Daly).
CBS Listen up (Jason Alexander's sitcom which was far funnier than Yes, Dear!, which was renewed oddly after being on haitus almost all season), Joan of Arcadia (never watched it), and of course Everybody Love Raymond was retired. Two and a Half Men will slide into their time slot.
NBC: The New Law and Order Show, and Relvations.
WB: Cancelled Jack and Bobby, which was a shame since it was really good show. They lost me as a viewer when the flipped to Wednesday Nights though. IT was very interesting and politically motivated.
...and at the last minute FOX which should release their lineup soon. Dediced to renew Arrested Development.

"Gaming Wars"
All 3 major game systems are going to release their newest editions by the end of 2006. The following is cut and pasted from a USA today article by a certain rather lazy blogger that should remain nameless.
The players are in place for the next video game battle of the big guns.
Nintendo reveals details Tuesday of its new system, code-named Revolution, after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 3 console Monday and Microsoft's unveiling of Xbox 360 on an MTV special last Thursday.
All the action is taking place before the annual E3 Expo, which begins Wednesday. The three gaming giants will unveil the systems there.
Microsoft is expected to have the Xbox 360 in stores first, in time for the holidays. Nintendo and Sony will follow in 2006. No prices have been set, and release dates have not been locked in.
Nintendo, whose GameCube sales have lagged, hopes to gain ground, particularly among the fast-growing older-gaming market. Revolution is about the size of a stack of three DVD cases and has no visible knobs, buttons or ports for joysticks. The system will use only wireless controllers, and it sits flat or stands vertically.
With its front-loading slot for discs, it will play games on full-size DVDs as well as older GameCube games on mini-DVDs. Like Xbox and PlayStation 2, it will play DVD movies.
Nintendo, which mostly ignored the Net with GameCube, also is catching up with the online wave. Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Xbox Live, that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game - from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshine. (Nintendo hasn't decided whether downloading will be free.)
Xbox spokesmen have pointed out that 360's specifications are 10 to 13 times more powerful than those of the original Xbox; Sony said Monday that the processor in Play-Station 3, which will come in several colors and be out next spring, will be 35 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.
Nintendo makes more modest claims that Revolution is two or three times more powerful than GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."
Analyst Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group says one of Revolution's chief advantages is that designers will find it far easier to create games for Revolution than for competing systems. "They do not need to make major changes from the games they were designing," he says. "They have better performance without having to do a lot of extra work."
Says Kaplan: "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming,' " a term Nintendo uses to mean the system is easily adapted to by both gamers and designers. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."

"Box Office Big Boys"
Came across this reading Roger Ebert's review of Kicking and Screaming. Thought it was pretty intresting. Enjoy.
"Will Ferrell is now a major movie star, with nine more new movies in the pipeline. I learn of his status from the industry analyst David Poland, who has crunched the numbers and come up with the "real" list of box office heavyweights. He says top 10 stars in terms of actual ticket sales are, in order: Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks, Eddie Murphy, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell and Denzel Washington. The highest-ranking woman on the list is Reese Witherspoon, at No. 12."

"Flag on the Play at Echelon"
Well it would seem the zoning laws that were pushed through last fall to get the ball rolling to build a free standing Wal-Mart to bring the Echelon Mall back from the dead weren't pushed through after all. A few weeks ago it was learned that some legal jurkon lead to realization that the approval of the zoning was actually void. It was never legal to begin with.
So, PREIT has been dealt a major set back. Now they have to get the entire zoning approved before they can even get to the stage they were at earlier this spring. Eventually, they could just tell the good people to pound sand. Or in the words of a former manager of mine during my retail days.
"Suck off, and Die!"
Here is an article from Monday's Courier post.

"Sleep"
I am getting ready to go to bed. Nothing beats that one moment when you first climb into bed for the night. A whole night of sleep in front of you. Just getting ready to be out like a light. Wrap yourself up in your covers and shut your brain off. After 25 years, its still on of my favorite things to do.

"Summer Movie Wasteland"
It would seem that Hollywood is going to be on auto pilot this summer. MOst the movies coming out are remakes, sequels, or lame attempts to cash in on old TV shows.
First off we have the Honeymooners coming out with Hollywood felt needed to be "urbanized" so they cast Cedric the Enterainer in the Jackie Gleason part. This might pissed people off casting black people as white people. I guess people have a point I don't see Eugene Levy playing Shaft anytime soon. I am more pissed that Cedric the Entertainer who I think is funny, is being so lame in the films he picks. I watched his show both weeks it was on before it got cancelled, why not write your own funny characters? Instead of trying to cash in on comedy legend's character from 5 decades ago? How very lame.
Second, we have a Bewitched movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrall, which a really idotic premise. Don't forget the Batman movie where we learn the start of the legend. Anyone that actually read the comic in their life is tired of hearing this story. The entire concept was summed up in a few scenes in Tim Burton's 1989 film. Not to mention its a mostly british cast with a british director. Next years SUperman film is being filmed in Australia, are we out sourcing our super heros too?
The House of Wax looks like a lame slasher flick which stole the name from a Vincent Price classic. With Paris Hilton no less. I am told that theaters cheered when she got ofted. Throw in Speilberg air lifting the War of the Worlds to make it his own. TIm Burton remaking Willy WOnka, and a Star Wars pre-quel. No one had a original idea this summer?
Supposedly 8 horror movies are being released, and I saw a few trailers for other fantasy films that visually look like they just want to be the Next Harry Potter.
Oh yeah and Peter Jackson remade King Kong. Altough I am not sure if thats still coming out this summer.
I am looking forward to the Star Wars film. THe only other two is the Bill Murray flick broken flowers in August, and the Euguene Levy/Samuel L Jackson teaming "The Man" due out labor day weekend.
Maybe I am just being negative, but it looks pretty bad right now.

"Michael Bay to Direct Transformers Movie"
Dreamworks has announced that Michael Bay best known for pearl Harbor and Armegeddon will helm the Untitled Transfromers project. The director is hated by many for those two films alone. Neither which that I have seen.
However, since the cartoon was extremely fast paced and action packed full of explosions. I am sure that's what the film is going to be like, and thats Bay's trademark. Bay hit the big time while teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer early in his career with crowd pleasers like The Rock, and Bad Boys. He returned two years ago to direct the Bad Boys sequel.
Bay's next film, The Ilsand is his first film not made with Bruckheimer. It is rumored to be a bit different than his typical fare. Perhaps that rumor is fueled soley by the casting of Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johanson.
Some people are pissed about Bay directing the Transformers film. However, from the studios point of view its a great choice. Everything he touches turns to gold. As long as they stay faithful to the characters and make their voices sound remotely simliar I will be happy. I am told Megatron will transform into a tank now, because they won't market a robot that turns into a gun anymore. Damn liberals.

"See Hillary Run"
A year ago or so when I was hearing and reading a lot that Hillary Clinton would try to make a bid for the White House in 2008, my friend Drew said to me, "Ah that's hogwash, only right wing people think she will actually run." Then I started searching my back for wings.
Anyone, as a former PR student I have an eye for when people are trying to change their image. Suddenly, Hillary Clinton is trying to act a little more to the right then she was. Also, many people who are democrats seem to think she is the front runner for the 2008 bid.
Now Drew, and the people that blew me off I can't imagine could really simply rule out this possibility. Whether or not shes going to get the nomination is another story. I thought it was a good idea for the Democrats before I saw Bush overcome Kerry, which I really didn't think was going to happen. If all those southern and mid-west states couldn't accept John Kerry, would they accept a woman president?
I don't mean to turn it into the battle of the sexes here. Although, I have friends who think that a female should never be in that position of power. However, the people in that part of the country are a bit more old fashioned, and you wonder if even if she's more qualified for the job then whoever she runs against that she will win less states than Kerry.
Is this a smoke screen? Or are the democrats going to put it all on the line like a poker game? Put all their chips and hope it pays off.
Speaking of John Kerry. Remember he kept saying "I have a plan!" during the election? When usually asked about it he said he had to vote for him to find out. Well seeing as where he is still technically getting paid to serve his country. Why not tell us what his kick-ass plan was? Perhaps it was all a bluff? If not why is he refusing to share this brain storm with the rest of the world.

"Tucker vs KYW"
For anyone that taped Survivor last night and didn't watch it for whatever reason. Don't read this!
Tucker is pissed, but first read the back story. I was actually going to slam them before tonight for simliar reasons.
So in the Philly/ South Jersey region Action News on Wpvi 6 (ABC affilate) has been the top rated local news show over and over again. Which is why they have such a slow turn over of talent. Action News is as Philly as the soft pretzel. Try as they might WACU 10 (NBC Affilate) and KYW 3 (CBS affilate) have not been able to kick WPVI's Action News off the hill. Okay NBC 10 won a sweeps period a few years ago. HOwever, usually the two channels are so far behind they end up fighting for 2nd place.
In the past few years KYW 3's Eye Whitness News as tried to marketself as the #1 show local news channel and tried to take on ACtion News. They even lured WPVI's veteran Marc Howard to their broadcast team which really gave them a shot in the arm. He has since moved to the evening broadcast.
Anyway, KYW 3 has taken full advantage of their highly rated CBS aired shows such as CSI. and Survivor the later is related to why this rant is here. Let me give you two shamless examples of KYW trying to get viewers of their shows afraid to flip to their prefered news show.
One was during sweeps recently. They promised bloopers of their talent. I thought that could be funny. SO I watched. Sadly, they weren't Bloopers. It was simply old footage of their talent working in other cities with bad hair and entry level jobs. Or Besley Resse dancing off camera. A few old commericals, and to top it all off their #1 was a Larry Mendte (their #1 Anchor) where he got his faced pissed in by is kid on the Dr. Phil show. But, it was fake piss, which means it was a skit, not a blooper.
The 2nd one was a few weeks ago when we all thought the Delware River Whale had gone out toe sea. They said "Sad News for Whale Watchers"; and the tone was serious. OF course the promo ran at top of the broadcast and we didn't learn if the whale had gone belly up or not till half way till Letterman. I actually fell for that one for like 3 minutes. I am ashamed.
Tonight, they really crossed a line. 15 mins into a already delayed Survivor they boasted having a contestant Stephanie's back story and family on the news tonight. The reason being shes a Philyl resident. Okay, what reason would they randomly decide to that if the show had not just started, or she won the million bucks a show that won't air for a a few more weeks. Well clearly, because she was voted off, and it turns out I was right. Anyone with even a quarter of a brain that wasn't out taking a whizz or making a sandwitch during that commerical set might as well turned off their tv.
So if your as pissed as I am. Or even pissed about the concept. Email the local affliate and rant to them! http://kyw.com/feedback/ Don't forget to say in your e-mail that you are going to just watch ACtion NEws now. That really chaps their ass. Just thats just wrong. EYE WHITNESS NEWS>>>>>>>BANNED!

"The Rhode to Hate is Paved with Air"
My friend Drew went on a rant on his blog (the reason God invented blogs) about how some right wing leaning blog writers were saying they were glad a woman died. The woman was someone I had never heard of in my entire life, but apparently a well respected liberal of some sort. Drew said that it was MORE a right wing thing to be full of hate and what night. I respectfully disagreed. If anything I think the left wingers are more likely to resort to these type of bizarre hatred towards public figures they dislike and more likely to cheer them meeting the reaper.
Recently in the news something along those lines has happened. Of course you likely haven't heard about it since its getting less press than a Phantoms game. Randi Rhodes who hosts a show on Air America a liberal themed radio station had a skit on her show about the President getting shot. I guess the murder of the president of the United States gets some laughes with their target audience. Yeah, thats right the anti-gun people made those jokes. This is far worse than saying, I am glad so and so is dead. Both are pretty low class, but this skid is just flat otu messed up.
I didn't get to hear the actual skit, but have a transcript. Anyway, before you RUSH to judgment let me inform you that I often times actually listen to Air America. Although, not as much recently since the low singal comes in annoyingly bad in the some of the places I am during the day.
Rhodes has since said she was sorry about it, however I am sure she knew about it coming on. Then again shes such an awful radio show host that maybe she didn't. I mean professionally she has one of the worst shows I have ever heard. She rambles all over the map, comes off as just a total bitch, and sometimes her is so erratic you wonder if shes on drugs. I have heard much more polished college radio talk shows. I can't imagine if Sean Hannity had a skit with gunshots intended for John Kerry.
In addition to her having no idea what it takes to run a professional radio show, shes just awful. She spews hate for several hours. If I ever met her I would get a large sock fill it with quarters and whack her in the face with it.
So, anyway. The left wingers are more full of hate IMHO, and more likely to lower themselves to such awfulness. Oh, yeah the radio show is under a routine investigation.

"New Jersey Ghost Voices"
This link is to a page that contains (supposedly) audio of ghosts and some rather angry ones. These are tapes made my ghost investgators in New JErsey. So check it out. So waste your company's money and co-workers time. Or simply hog the computer lame so students can't get in to work on their finals.
Of course many of you might easily dimiss this stuff, however it doesn't mean that they can't be freaky or the very least entertaining.
Feel free to tip your blog writer on the way out.

"Bad Joke; Double Header
I have been really busy lately. So blogging has been light. Look for hopefully lots of updates late this weekend and through the weekend.
To throw my readers a bone who went almost a week without any thing new to read. Bad Joke Day will be a double header this week.
Why did the baker rob the bank?
He needed the dough.
What do you call a fly with no wings?
A walk.

"Super Sunday: The Look"
Here is a peak at the new Superman for the film due out next year. http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=2890
Also, there are rumors flying around that footage that Richard Donner shot with Marlon Brando for SUperman II will be used in this film. That is kind of out there so I am not sure I buy into that rumor.
Basically Superman and Superman II were shot at the same time. HOwever, production delays led them to just focus on the first one. After the first one was released Richard Donner (for reasons still mostly unknown) was fired. This caused a huge up roar from the cast.
Brando, was originally supposed to show up in the sequel even though he was only in the first film for 6 mins. He asked the producers for a share of the profits of the film and a more money, t hey said no. So, they couldn't use his scene. The scenes have been sitting somewhere in a vault for years. I would rather them be cleaned up and put back into Superman II though.
Oddly enough it would team up the late Brando with this On the Water Front Co-star.

"80"
For those of you who feared seeing any snow updates on this blog. This blogs for you. After last week with picture perfect weather, in addition to coldish night its going to feel a lot like summer. Its hitting 80 tomorrow (actually hit it today in some parts) and it will get even hotter on Weds. Some people think it could push 90!.
So, get out and buy me water ice and drop it by my house. The old crazy guy for Great Adventure is dancing on TV, lawn mowers are going, the odor of millions of grills and trips to the shore aren't far behind.

"Brocktoon"
I just love this SNL skit and saw it again recently on E!. I looked hard and long to find a link that would be able to provide the video of it, but came up empty handed. I did though find the transcript of it.
The skit was from the early 90's. It was when Tom Hanks hosted and his funny as hell in this skit. The link provides the actors who played in this skit. Including Phil Hartmen who delivered his lines really creepy, Chris Farely, Mike Meyers, and Tim Meadows.
The skit was about a group of people who are fans of the guy who played Mr. Belvedere on the late 80's sitcom. I laugh just reading the transcript of it. Needless to say the people who are at this meeting are a little off center. The exchange between Hanks and Farley is classic. ahttp://snltranscripts.jt.org/91/91sbelvedere.phtml

"Your My Slave"
So my nephew just loves this little oddly shaped baseball field near my house. He loves it even more now that they got rid of a the hockey rink (LOCKOUT) that was mainly used by weeded up skateboaders and people who for whatever reason love to smash glass bottles on cement. In place of the eye sore of a hockey ring (the nets were stolen 15 years ago at least so it had no purpose) a playground was built. Acutally they stoped and several feet of the ill-fated rink remains. Perhaps the glass smashers of my neighborhood have some sort of policitcal clout.
One thing he loves even more then that little ball field is the Transformers. Now I am not talking about the horribly drawn idiotic one shown now. I am refering to the original 1980's series now on DVD. Thanks mainly to his beloved uncle. One episode inparticular in the first season was entitled THE ULTIMATE DOOM. The 3-part epic had Megatron up to his old ticks trying to bring his home planet close to earth in order to take its energy. In order to aid him in his nasty plan he enlisted the help of an evil scientist who planted chips on humans behind their ears in order to make them mindless slaves.
One unlucky lad was Spark Plug the father of Spike. Believe me or not they are actually both humans. So, Spark Plug becomes a mindless slave. My nephew tells me about this show several times over the course of a visit. He even quotes the show and screams like poor Spark PLug does everytime the chip is turned on and his forced to do evil against his will.
So, recently he went to the ballfield with my mother and brothers wife. When he was there another kid showed up to play with his mother. THe kid was an african american boy, and well my nephew decided to quote the worse line he could have from the show.
He ran up to the poor kid and told him he was going to be HIS SLAVE. Of couse this awkard exchange in front of his mother (who was actually white) resulted in my sister in laws face turning redder then a Phillies ball cap.
The mother said something to the effect of not liking that kind of language.
Sometimes I wish I was an autobot. Hmmm...did I think that or type that? Ah, no matter.

"Bush's IPOD"
I still never see any reason why I would ever own one. However, they are the new crazy. We all knew songs Jon has on his. So, why not the leader of the free world? I actually know less of his music selection. What, no Petty Dubbya? Click here for more. Remember to make it look like you are doing work.

"Insert Witty Blog Title Post Here"
People with quite a bit more free time then me and certainly a lot more money than this humble blogger have compiled a list of famous people who look better or worse on HDTV. Some people apperently show signs of age or bad skin easier. Makes you wonder if they will start air burshing films. I swear they did it for the Charlie's Angels Films. Anyway here is the list. Apperently, George Clooney is handsome in any format.
"Can I Get Some Lemonade?"
Sometimes I just hear lyrics wrong. I am sure everyone does and they know thats not the lyrics. Take the Black Crowes song "Remedy" when the background singers kick in they always sound like they are saying. "Can I get some Lemonade?" Given the warm sunny weather around these parts sure sounds good to me!

"The Core"
A lot of my science knowledge comes from the 80's cartoon Transfromers. In one of the earlier shows titled "The Core" Megatron got the constructicons to dig a huge hole in the earth in order to tap into the earth's energy. Earlier in the series most the shows revolved around the Depicitcons looking for energy sources.
Starscream was imedately against the noton since drilling into the planet would be like drilling into a large rock which would cause it to explode. Meagtron wouldn't have it and went through with his plan anyway. Sure, enough the Earth started to shake and end was maybe near. Optimus and Megatron were even forced to join forces in order to try and stop it.
Anyway, this is a long way to go provide you with a link that you likely won't ever click on. However, when I read this article about making a hole through the earth's crust. I wondered if they needed someone to buy them the DVD's of the Transformers. It's funny they seem to be doing it just for the heck of it.
Now, I really don't think the world would explode, but are they at least looking for Oil while there down there? After the earth's curst is the mantle. They didn't say if they were going to stop there or not. I think I will just be standing near the space bridge just in case.

"Who Wants to Take a Shot at Bettman?"
For those of you that still care (I doubt it's many at this point). Here is they update for the NHL lockout. Since it get almost no coverage at all it might still be news to some. The NHL offered a laughable offer if not down right insulting to the NHLPA with a cap of 37.5 million or so. Of course they rejected it.
So the union is all miffed at the NHL who said they would play next season with or without union players. Bascially using replacement players. The NHLPA then said they would take back all the money shelled out from their war chest to any player who becomes a scab. I really wouldn't want be to the guy who has to knock on Tie Domi's door to ask for thousands of dollars back if it comes to that.
The NHLPA didn't want to stop there since they haven't pissed enough groups of people off at this point. They also threatened to strip the certification for any agent who has a player cross the picket lines. Who knows if they can even do this, but after the draft was canceled neither side seems to even really know what the heck the rullings are on some things. This of course made the agents irrate who were saying basically that their job is to help their client get paid well for their job and find work. So, who is the NHLPA to tell them they can't do that? Hell their clients are all playing in Europe or the AHL with caps. So, why would the agent not want to get them a better paying gig?
So, if that another nail in the coffin of the NHL. I really see this getting to the point of no return if the situation isnt fixed by mid July. No Keith exageration here. The death of the league. How could Bettman say he was successful if they use scrubs and no one comes out to see no names play and the oweners all lose even more money. In fact thats what would happen, and I doubt the leauge would stay a float long enough for playoffs. So, anyone...who want to take a shot at GARY BETTMAN?

"PREIT Stalls Again"
For the 2nd time in as many months PREIT has pulled their intentions on putting their Wal-Mart/Echelon Mall plan to vote at the last minute. It was supposed to go up tomorrow, but it won't happen.
It's unclear wheather or not PREIT is throwing in the towel at this point. Going back to the drawling board, or just using a delay tactic to get the protesters to lose interest. The last opition it unlikely, since the last time they did the Anti-Wal Mart movement mushroomed with power.
The people are irrate over traffic, and seem content on the mall shutting its doors for good. Just recently, the children's photo store closed up. Also the Firestone tire store is rumored to be closing this week. The store was set to be knocked down for a gas station. However, if this plan falls through it will just add to the ever growing list of empty store in down town Voorhees.
PREIT certianly couldn't think they had a snowball's chance in hell to get their plan approved tonight so perhaps it was a good move. The SAVE VOORHEES movement continues to gloss over any mention of the dinning places or the new stores. They also fail to point out the lose of jobs that will occur when the mall offically closes. They also leave out how an entire empty mall would benefit the town.
Thinks were going to get heated for the meeting. Now it's just time sit in wait. Perhaps Wal-Mart wants to avoid addition bad press and isn't going to press the issue anymore. However, I can't imagine PREIT getting this far and rolling over dead.
For those of you that want the mall to stay open. Well as friend of mine used to always say.

"Even More Brutual"
It's not even Memorial Day yet (when the prices really start to climb) and you are hard pressed to find a place to sell you regular unleaded gas less then 2.00 a gallon. Sadly, NJ is the cheapest of them all. Prices keep climbing with no signs of letting up. Coming at a time when the economy is seemingly getting back on it's feet. Also the time when people are traveling for vacations and what not. Could these prices get out of hand and cripple the economy in ways we never saw?

"Seinfeld's Dad"
With all the news coverage going to the pope and the right to die/ live debate most people didn't even hear this. However the actor who played Jerry Seinfeld's father on the long running sitcom died of a cancer a week ago last Saturday. Kind of like when Earl Hindman who played Wilson on Home Improvement died last year I am surprised how little press it got.
The actor's name Barney Martin (heck even I had to look it up) was the second actor to play Jerry's dad. He replaced some thin dude with a come over who was only in the show pilot. He really nailed the role of Jerry's father. A few of my favoriate moments were when he was ranting about velcro and when he blurted out "Pinko Commie Rag" about the newsletter sent out in his retirement home.
Read his bio last week. Turns out he was once a private investigator, a WWII vet, and married to the same woman for since the 1940s. He also showed up on Murder She Wrote (I flipped past one day and he was wearing the same black thick framed glasses he would wear in the final season of seinfeld.) and he played the guy who Joey took over for to become the host of the Ranger Joe show.
Also, at the end of last week Frank"The Chicken Guy" Perdue passed away. Although, I swear he died sometime in the late 1990's.
Post some of your fav. Jerry's Dad moments if you have any.

"Pope John Paul, 1920-2005"
We saw it coming. Sad none the less the Pope is gone. On the bright side if you believe in heaven and hell (Its okay if you don't. ) you would agree that he is in better place now. He seemingly has been suffering for a long time. Don't know if any of my readers are catholic which it might have hit harder. Well now we get to see something that most of us were too young to see before or follow the naming of new pope. It will be different I think since he will likely be drastically younger than what we were used to. No reason to link an article, just pick up the paper, look on the net, watch the news channels for the next 72 hours. They will even have pictures unlike this humble blog.
"US to Cease to Exist by 2007; Says Koran"
Want the good news first? Well we don't have to worry about social security anymore. However, if you think this guy is right the bad news is we will all be killed in giant tidal waves on both sides of the country. This guy being a Koran Scholar who thinks are time is soon to be up. Claiming these tsunamis of Asia will look like a day at the beach for us. Claiming the sins of America going back to the murdering of the Indians will come back to haunt them. Of course I don't buy into it. Well read this little article.

Huge news. I just heard this at 610 WIP so, I have no links. HOwever, behind closed doors the NHL's two sides have come to an agreement and not only are ready for next season. They are planning to have tournment starting at the end of next month with all 30 teams!
It's unclear how they could actually figure out who will play who. Perhaps based on their standings from last season. They are having a press conference on Monday to clear all those questions.
Clearly, this is a bold move. Certainly, they actually see the WHA's tournment as a huge threat. Now that the NHL will have one of their own it's likely most players will past on the WHA tournment to be held in June. A huge blow the start up league.
Great news, I know many casual fans will mock them for throwing a HOCKEY tournment when the summer is about to start. But, hockey is hockey. Just remember that we will have a regular season next year anyway. So all is well.
Im really excited although obviously this Cup winner wont be as reveared as other ones, but still. Time to GET CUUUUUUUUUP Crazy.
APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, you fell for that didn't ya?

"Save Voorhees Comes out Swinging"
A group of people have started the SAVE VOORHEES campaign. They want to save it from having a big box Wal-Mart by the Echelon Mall. Not long after the mall owners put up their new plans for their signs in the now empty Sam Goody the people for SAVE VOORHEES were out on Somerdale road waving their ANTI-Wal Mart signs. Dan K reported seeing a huge sign on Somerdale Road.
The group is meeting tonight to try to get together conerned citizens. They have posted a pictures of the location of the location of the potential Wal-mart. They seem to be horrified how close it is to their schools and homes! They also voiced their fear of trucks. No mention on the other stores returning to the mall or joining the mall. Just all slamming Wal-Mart.
The drop dead date is slated for April 6th, and it's doubtful PREIT could pull out if they wanted to at this point. It certainly won't be the quiet evening they had hoped for. It could even get ugly since the decision is likely to be reached. I find little support for the Wal-Mart by the people of Voorhees. Perhaps they have the mayor or some politicians in their pocket, but its looking like the Echelon Mall's feeding tube will be pulled next week. Hopefully, no one be driving trucks to the meeting.
Check out the people of Voorhees, speaking out.

"Furious and Angry Powell"
Former Secertary of State Colin Powell is speaking out. Well sort of. If you recall when he resigned I pondered if he would ever come out and slam the Bush and company for the way the war in Iraq was presented to the American people. Of course I am aware that it was Powell himself, who did a lot of the presenting. However, one got the impression not even too long after he did so, that he had serious doubts about what he had actually reported. Also, really didn't think they were out of opitions to the point of war. Well today some quotes could be a note of interest for those of you interested in such things. Although he rejects the idea that him and Bush are no longer on good terms. I cut and pasted an article form AOL since most my readers can't acess their news sites. So, don't go rolling your eyes at the lenght of the article. Besides it sure beats actually doing work at t he office, or writing that paper you know your putting off. FROM AOL BERLIN (March 30) - The United States made errors in presenting its case for war against Iraq, but Saddam Hussein had to be removed, former Secretary of State Colin Powell told a German magazine.
"We were sometimes too loud, too direct, perhaps we made too much noise," Powell told Stern magazine in an interview released on Wednesday. "That certainly shocked the Europeans sometimes."
He said terms like "Old Europe," the expression coined by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to describe countries such as France and Germany that opposed the war, had not helped ease European concerns about Washington's policies.
But he said that despite the problems facing U.S. troops in Iraq, it was better that Saddam Hussein was no longer in power.
"Yes, the insurgency is much bigger than we anticipated. But I'm glad that Saddam is in jail," he said in the German article.
Powell said he had argued for a diplomatic solution against cabinet colleagues such as Vice President Dick Cheney, who did not believe that diplomacy would work.
"The situation with Saddam Hussein had to be resolved, either by taming him or by removing him by military means," he said. "I'm sure that the Vice President's view from the very beginning was: we'll never solve this through diplomatic means."
Powell said he was "furious and angry" that he had been misinformed about Iraq's stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction when he laid out the case for war before the United Nations Security Council in February, 2003.
"It was information from our security services and from some Europeans, including Germans. Some of this information was wrong. I did not know this at the time," he told the magazine.
"Hundreds of millions followed it on television. I will always be the one who presented it. I have to live with that."
But he said he had never considered resigning and rejected suggestions that his relationship with President Bush was a cool one.
"Anyone who says that has no idea. We are friends," he said.

"Wal-Mart Plan Gains Ground"
The plan to build the Wal-Mart could be gaining ground which would green light the overhaul of the mall. In fact without it the mall would die. Apperently, most if not all of the business owners in the mall have jumped on board. Wal-Mart is willing to scale back. An oppinion piece in this weekends paper sheds some light on what the mall back on it's feet could do for the area tax wise. Explained better then I could, so just check it out. Time is ticking though. No date has been set (as far as I know) to have the town vote on the mall or not.
"Good Old Uncle Sam"
The IRS is looking to tax money people get selling on E-bay as part of their annual income. Not people (at least not yet) just selling junk they found in the attic, but people who buy stuff at garage sales or flea markets then turn around and sell them. How they would determine that is anyones guess since people could likely just have other people bid for them or what not. It's funny everyone wants to make money. Uncle Sam always has to step in when people find different (legal) ways of doing so. Read here.

"Easter"
Easter has a funny way of sneaking up on you. We hear Christmas coming from a mile away, months in advance. Easter comes without the obligatory movies and specials. No count downs of shopping days. Even the people who don't celebrate the holiday don't gripe they just ignore it.
You would think that it would come across a bigger deal considering the religious signifgance of the hoilday. On the other had perhaps it's a blessing that it was never really hyper-commericalized and remains a more private holiday for those of faith.
Well, regardless happy Easter to all of my readers.

"Tucker's Dumb Move"
So, the other day I was out mailing something. Next door to the post office is a little newsshop that I frequent on occasion. I had the sudden "lucky feeling" to play the lottery. I wanted to play 265 for the daily drawling for the NJ lottery. 265 was my original number associate number when I worked at Sears.
The number 265 seems to come up for me quite often. So, why not the lottery? I usually stick to the the safer (oddly more expensive) scratch and wins. However, I wanted to do this it was only 50 cents.
So I picked up a Daily News and my ticket. I peered down at my ticket, and the women (who not suprisinly was Indian and had spoke broken English) had plugged me in for 665 instead of the number I requested. I noticed and brought it to the atttention of the guy behind the counter while she was busy doing something else. I stopped myself once because, I realized how idotic it was since the odds wouldn't change. However, the guy was overly nice and went out of his way to print me a ticket with the Sears number on it.
I heistated for a minute and a wiser would have just kept both tickets. I didn't. Just swapped the tickets like an idoit. I for some reason figured it would just be easier for both parties that way. I left. Even in the back of my mind I figured it could have been an omen, but I said "Thats Silly!"
Today, checked the paper. Well I guess its not big shock that 656 came up. And, Yes I boxed meaning the numbers could come up in any order and I would win a little less. I would have had a nice winning of a little over 100 bucks to spend on dinner and a movie tonight with my lovely girlfriend.
Instead I am just left bruises from where I kept kicking myself again and again today.

Echelon Could Be Totally Empty by 2007........
"ECHELON WAL-MART OR BUST"
PREIT is at a cross roads with the Echelon Mall, and Wal-Mart is their final option. Today's Courier-Post (can't find the article just pick up a paper its in the South Jersey section for more info!) reports that if the Wal-Mart falls through the mall will offically flat line sometime in 2007 at the latest.
As reported earlier on Tucker's World people of Voorhees known as Smart Action for Voorhees and Echelon were mighty upset about this large Wal-Mart coming to town and bringing in all these trucks. They also thought the store was too big and would look ugly. Of course it wouldn't be a breath taking as the IHOP that has been empty for several years, the empty salon, car place with graffiti all over the walls or an aging wharehouse retail store.
So, the people at PREIT have decied to nix the 24 hours drive through pharmacy, scale back the size, and make it so to Wal-Mart has less trucks coming in. They would have stright night time delveries. So, all hopefully the people wouldn't be haunted by those dreaded trucks.
That paper confirmed what I said (before they said it) that 3 stores are ready to go and jump into the grave of the empty Sears building. However, they will bail if the Wal-Mart deal falls through. One of the stores was described as Old Navy on steriods whatever that means. Another store would "offer goods more upscale than Wal-Mart" which, well could be anything. They won't reveal at this time who it will be yet.
In addition, a two resturants will share a liqour license. So, the mall will be nice it sounds. Not to mention a new opening will be made where J C Penny's stands now. Pennys will be torn down to make room for the Wal-Mart and a good deal of landscaping and redesigning will make the Mall have an EXTEREME MAKE OVER.
Some people still argue that the Wal-Mart will do more harm then good. However, how can they not take into account the dinning places and 3 other new stores? This could easliy create a domino effect. No to mention various stores that have pulled out like Gertrude Hall have an agreement that when the Mall is back and running they will return. With horrific traffic woes hampering Deptford and South Jersey's new obession with having stuff to do off the PATCO. I am confident that there is a real shot to keep this mall alive here.
PREIT delayed their plans a few weeks back. Likely to rework it since they figured it likely didn't have a shot to get through. That should happen by the end of the week. When PERIT bought the mall it was 76 percent filled now its dipped to 58 perecent filled. That likely includes the little stands. So, its clear its the people of Smart Action of Voorhees will be voting on more then if they want a Wal-Mart. The mall's death could be made offical. PREIT hopes the town will have a meeting in early April simliar to the one that he requested to be postponed. If the Smart Action of Voorhees people get their way, they won't have to worry about any more trucks. Anyone at all coming to that part of their town at all for that matter. Just empty run down forgotten buldings all in a row. No trucks! Perhaps they should vote on dropping the Smart off their name or not while they are at it. Thoughts?

"Ah, Spring"
Well the weather is getting warmer now. So, no more snow updates on the blog till next season. Again I can't complain. Had a big storm, some small storms, a wind storm, extereme temps in a short period storm, and some rain to snow stroms. Now its pretty boring weather wise just lots of rain. Nothing to talk about till the first heatwave. Oh yeah theres always hurricane season which will be here before you know it. Anyway, lots of my readers hate snow so to be fair to them in honor of the start of spring. I am putting away the snow talk till next season. In the meantime. Spring lovers can read up about the current season. Nothing ground breaking, but a nice little read. Besides it beats actually WORKING at your work computer. AH SPRING.
"High Speed Chase in South Jersey"
Well by the time most of you people read this it might be old news. Not to mention that fact that more facts will be known. Tonight on Channel 3's Eyewhitness News they were covering a high speed car chase. When they first came on to the story they said the guy was on the Black Horse Pike in Gloucester County.
However, I was like wait a second that looks a little more famliar than the Black Horse Pike to me. Sure, enough it was the White Horse Pike and the dude was bobing and weaving all over the place. He cut through Lindenwald down Laurel Road and ended up near 42.
3 news helicopters and one police helicopter went flying over my house. The dude I think litterally got from like the Lindenwold train station area to the end of college drive in like 5 minutes or something insane like that.
No idea why he was doing this other then the fact that it was a stolen car. Also that it started in PA, went to NJ, back to PA then to NJ again where it ended near 42.
Had some friends coming home from that way not to distant from the time it occured. Wonder if anyone saw anything. Thankfully (and amazingly) he didn't hit any cars.

"Smoke If Ya Gotta 'Em"
Well, perhaps some of you are checking my blog one last time before you head home for the night. Or are checking it between classes or whatever. As most of you know smoking could be banned in public places including casinos. Today the decision was flipping to the Senate. However, they decided to put off the decision on this to they would have more time to discuss the situation. Wonder what the real reason is, I mean I can't imagine that most people haven't already made up their minds. Maybe they are waiting for casino owners to walk in with a wheel barrel full of money or something.
Well anyway in the mean time by all means smoke your brains out from the bridges to the beach in the public buildings. As much as I am on the fence on this one. I seriously doubt I would worry to much about alienating smokers when I come home from the bar or casinos not smelling like an Ash Tray.
Well for more details check out this story from the Press of Atlantic City.

"Super Sunday: The Kent Farm Set"
Pictures of the Kent Farm Set are on the internet. Included with these pictures is the mark that Superman's spaceship made when it hit the ground. More people are starting to wonder if it will be actually more like a sequel to Superman II with a new cast.
I still doubt Warner Brothers would do that. However, it would be interesting.
Click here for the pictures. I am going to blog about the history of the Reeve film series at one point either later tonight or down the road. I know a lot and want it to be pretty infromative, but not overly long. Perhaps it might be in two parts. However, keep checking back!
In the me time check out the pics! Looks to be legit!

"Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que"
So, Liza and I were coming back from Atlantic City recently. We decided to take the Black Horse Pike home, because we were considering stopping for some place different for dinner. So, that is the advantage of taking that way home. There are a lot better opitions then the KFC off the AC truck stop.
We always passed this place called Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que. Its located not far from the Hamilton Mall in what is considered Mays Landing in South JErsey.
Let me tell you this place just rocked. It was by far the best first experience I had in years. Liza claimed they might have been the best ribs she ever had.
Stepping into the resturant I knew it was going to be good. They had all kinds of cool stuff on the wall like hunting and fishing gear. It was designed like a lock cabin fire place included. It reminded me a bit of the place where John Candy ate in The Great Outdoors.
Anyway I just can't wait to go back because there is so much on the menu I want to try. I ended up getting the Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwitch. Which was proked hickory smoked and slathered in Rich & Sassy BBQ sauce. Man was that good!
My 2nd choice (which I plan to try next time) another sandwitch was the Texas Manhandler which was Texas Beef and Zesty Hot link susage sliced thin and piled high, topped with hell fire pickle chips.
Liza got the platted that had Ribs and Chicken and it was damn good.
Now looking at their webpage it appears that two locations are opening up soon in Philly and one in Cherry Hill. But, why wait? I am looking forward to getting a group together of anyone who wants to go its really not that far a drive. Maybe 20-30 mins from Jennas if that is a good reference point.
The have a thing called the All-American BBQ Feast which serves 4 or 5 people. We saw a family get this order and its more than enough food. Here is what it includes.
A full slab of Spare Ribs, A whole Chicken, a half pound of either beef brisket or chopped pork. Coleslaw, Famous Fries, Wilbur Beans (Jay can't have those) Corn on the Cob, and Corn Bread. All for $52.99. Thats pretty damn good if you split that four or five ways.
On top of that there are five different sauces on the table. Including one called Devil's Spit. Being messy and over eating is highly encouraged at this place.
This post will kick off a new feature on my blog telling people good places to eat in South Jersey. Since, well most my friends love food.
Info
Famous Daves
4215 Black Horse Pike
(609)569-9910.
Its roughly 5 miles or so past the intersection of Route 50 and the Black Horse Pike. It will be on the left hand side going TOWARDS Atlantic City, so you might have to U-Turn around. Taking the Atlantic City Express way your best bet might be to take the Hamilton Mall exit, but im not quite sure where that will dump you in reference to the place.
Also Route 73 is a good way to go. Since it ends at the Black Horese Pike (Route 322). Then just stay on there for awhile. Past 50 for a few. Then your there!
Go on your own and let me know what you thought.
Or let me know when you want to go!

George Lucus is comparing the final installment of the Star Wars prequels to Titantic. He claims it will be a real tear jerker. Well I also hope that it includes a very, bloody volient death of
Jar Jar Binks. I can only hope that is the reason it's going to be rated PG-13.

"WHAAAAAAAA?!?!?"
I pretty much am ready to pack up the snow storm updates of Tucker's World this weekend. Given the fact that the only shot we have is some wet snow start of next week and after that its time to enjoy the spring weather for the most part.
However, I don't know who hasn't heard this story yet, but parts of New Mexico have gotten 3 feet of snow! That is more then the "Monster Storm" dumped on us months ago!
Philly was over the average and all together we got close to or more then 4 feet of snow if you combine all the storms.
Check it out here to read more of the freak storm. Two feet feel Vegas. Wonder if anyone went there for "Spring Break". I certainly wouldn't gamble a dime if two feet of snow fell when I was in Vegas. Sounds like some bad luck to me!

"Ain't My Rotting Bear"
A South Jersey family has a rotting bear corpse on their lawn. It's been there for a week. They called people at the Fish and Wildlife however its lifeless body is still on their lawn.
Hmmm...Fish and Wildlife must be state workers or something.

"New Jersey Smoking Ban"
New JErsey smoking ban isn't far off. It was recently voted on an it could soon be a reality. In fact as far as I gather it only has to go to the Senate now.Now the smoking ban would be for all public places. Which would include bars and resturants. This has many business owners concerned that the smokers won't come out as often or at all.
However, some businesses in cities have said they actually had an increase in business whent he smoking ban was put in place.
New Jersey has bit of a different situation. Considering the fact that they have 13 casinos. Now from what I understand the casinos really don't want to fall under the blanket of public buildings and want to be exempt from such a ban.
I mean think about its a place for people to gamble which is, well not really good for you at all. So, if you are going to make that legal in one city. Why not just let them smoke too. Considering the casinos employee a large portion of South Jersey and bring in quite a bit money for the state, should they be excluded from the ban?
The bar situation is a bit different from the casino. I mean what if someone is really Jonesing for a cigarette? They have to walk all the way to the boardwalk or the garage? Its a lot harder to get outside. Especially, if you are playing tables.
In fact I know I have some smokers reading here. Let's say you are in the middle of a winning streak. Would you actually step out for a smoke? Since people are going to AC to drink and gamble should they really think of smoking as a huge sin?
I hate second hand smoke. However, I accept it as part of the Casinos and Bar scene. What does everyone think?
Wonder how this will effect our local bars if it goes through.

"Spider Hole Myth?"
Could the US have just made up the Saddam in a Spider Hole a story? One marine says that is not the way it went down. Instead, Saddam was found in a modest dewelling and actually fired back the US soilders. That found him.
The spider hole was said to actually have just been an old well. Why America would have made this up is unclear. I guess it make Saddam look a lot lamer. I don't know how much credit I give this story though.
Regardless here is the story link.
Gee, I sure wonder what DREW thinks.

"JR & Others WHA Bound"
The WHA is going full steam ahead with their spring tournment. They have confirmed the not only Jeremy Roenick but a string of NHL-ers (oddly all current or former Flyers) including Sean Burke, Robert Esche, Chris Chelios, Mark Recchi and former Philly goon Jim Cummins.
In fact a new list has just been posted.
The tournment starts May 20th.

"Come H E Double Hockey Sticks or High Water"
There is going to be a 2005-06 NHL season. Or thats what the owners are saying at this point. Yes, they plan to have a season. Puck will be dropped.
That is even if a CBA (collective bargining agreement if you forgot) is not reached. Of course this would mean they would use replacement players. Hopefully, not including Keenu Reeves.
So, in stead of JR, Gags, Brash, and Silent bob at they WATCH OVER YOU center next season you could see Peter White, Joe Foligno, some dude that works at the skate zone, the guy that waited on you at P J Whelians, and NHL players who could give a hoot about hard caps.
I mean there might be some AHL players showing up.
My question to my two readers is would you even watch if you didn't have a clue who half the team was? Also I would really like to hear from soon-to-be lawyer Drew about how legal this actually is and what moves the NHL PA would take to rain on the owners parade if they go through with this threat.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS CHECK OUT NHL.com
Also, if you would like a transcript of todays blog entry send me a check or email me your credit card number for $19.99.

"Echelon Stall-Mart"
This past Thursday Voorhees residents were supposed to meet to vote on the zoning regulations that would green light the Wal-Mart being built and the empty Penny's being torn down.
However, it never happened. Mere days before it was going to be voted on mall owner PREIT yanked their request to have it put to a vote. Some think it was a move in order to cool off the Voorhees residents who were all ready to shoot it down. In the weeks leading up to the date the anit-wal mart people had grown more vocal.
Others wonder if they are trying to fudge their plans to make it more appealing.
Now most people complaining about the Wal-mart (besides Grocery Store Unions) are more upset about the size, and the traffic it will draw. Lions head plaza is empty, most of the Bradless shopping center is dead. The Wal-mart would bring people in. They would have a new entrance with a restaurant where J C Pennys will be.
I don't know even if people didn't want it because they were afraid of Wal-mart knocking other stores out, I would have to point out that that section of Voorhees is already in dire straights.
Dire straights.

"That's Just Nasty"
One of the Pizza chains (pizza hutt or domionos I forget which) has these pizza sticks out. The thing is the show this dude, his pizza stick in ranch. That is awful. Just awful. Who would do such a thing? The other sauce is, um more red sauce which seems pretty odd to me. The ranch stuff is just nasty. I had hard enough time when Jenna used to dunk her Starview chicken tenders in ranch. How she could to that when the honey mustard was so damn good always baffled me.
MMMMMMMMMMM Starview chicken tenders.........::::Drool dipping out of mouth::::

"WHA SPRINGS Into Action"
Now that the NHL is in a coma. The WHA is trying (again) to come to life. Unable to get a season started with limited interest on behalf of many potential owners, a tournment will be played this spring. The WHA's commisoner Bobby Hull (NHL hall of famer) was so confident there was going to be a season, that they actually had a draft last spring. Many NHL players were selected including Flyers forward Simon Gagne who was first overall. Phil Espisito has joined the league. Perhaps there will be a WHA season next year. Not sure how many teams will actually play and who they will be.
Check it out.

Heard as low as 4-6 to as high as 10-12 (on NBC 10). Very tricky. Somehow I think its going to change over into rain. Ah, and Jamie Foxx just won best actor. Am I the only one, that is totally sick of hearing about Ray Charles?
Ah, a N oreaster. If you live in this area you know them well. However, in the winter they can be even worse with snow and ice. There is a pending storm and its more erratic then a micheal richards routine (the Seinfeld comic not the Flyers prospect).
Some say 3-6 inches like last week. Which wasn't that big a deal, but certainly enough to get the day off for many people. However, Rob Guriano seems to think we are in for quite a bit more then that. He doesn't seem to buying into the notion that many others are that it will change over to rain.
Now he hasn't released an official prediciton yet. However, reading his lastest column one wonders if he will go out on a limb and risk being the next John Bolaris.
At any rate. Looks like its going to be pretty nasty starting tomorrow morning. As always I will be excited to see what happens. However, I do have some stuff that I would rather not see cancelled this week. Old Man winter cares not.

"RIP Y-100"
AFTER ALMOST 12 YEARS MODERN ROCK STATION IS DEAD
Next to the gravestones of WDRE and EAGLE 106 now lies Y-100.
No more Preston and Steve.
No more Cathy.
No more Camp Out for Hunger.
No more Y-100 festivals or FEASTIVALS.
No more Bizzarro Files.
No more hailrous Micheal Jackson jokes.
No more YOU GUYS ROCK.
103.9 a R&B/ Hip-hop station is now there the modern rock station used to be. They are (were) owned by Radio One, and they want to "ubranize" their sound. So, now Philly has no modern rock stations. They do have a handful of the "ubranized stations" though. 103.9 will now be black gosspel.
Is there any modern rock stations from South Jersey that I don't know about that I can put into my radio?
After almost 12 years I figured we were safe as far as the modern rock stations getting the rug pulled out from underneath them.
Pretson and Steves morning show wasn't even given the chance to have a finale. Which isn't uncommon in the radio business. Likely out of fear of disgruntled radio talent from breaking FCC laws and simply bashing their soon to be ex-bosses.
Supposedly they are WMMR bound. However not for 6 months. Usually legally they cant work for another station for 6 months.
Truely, a sad day. Since it was the morning show I enjoyed the best. Now in place of them is Moonie & the Pooch. Whoever the hell they are. Im truely upset, and im sure so are lots of other radio listeners.

"Whacky Storm Out of No where"
A whole bunch of crazy stuff is going on weather wise out west. Well we can't quite compete with that here. Thankfully. HOwever, a storm system is about to slip up the coast and run into cold air. Forecasters (surprise) are all over the map (pun intended) with this one.
The closer you are to the ocean (assuming my readers are all NJ residents) the more snow you will get. I have heard 2-4, for Philly metro to as high as 7 inches(I doubt that). At the very least 7 inches down in Cape May area. So, good news for Beanz perhaps if he wants a day off! Could start as late as tomorrow night and as early as tomorrow morning! Its that whacky. Stay tuned folks. Check out the map break down.

"For Love or For Money?"
I don't have the link for it. In all fairness I guess I don't know all "the facts". I know I also shouldn't be laughing everytime I see this.
However, I am sure you have heard about the guy who is sueing the Eagles.
Apprently the man was doing work for a company hired by the Eagles to shovel snow off the seats during the "Monster Storm" right before the Eagles game. He said he just LOVED the Eagles so much that he was honored to shovel snow so Eagles fans could enjoy them game. He just loves those IGGLES.
However, the man perhaps was so excited over shoveling snow for his football team that he left his gloves at home. The company was nice enough to provide him with a shovel, but they didn't give him any gloves. Now he is sueing the Eagles, because he is losing a bunch of his fingers due to frost bite he got for having his hands exposed in dangerously cold weather.
You would have thought that after feeling left his hands, or some one said.
"Dude your hands are all discolored"
He might have left or something. I mean I am sure everyone was like (all day long).
"Dude, no gloves? What are you crazy?"
His response? Perhaps.
"Yeah, man CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZY ABOUT THE BIRDS! Lets Go Eagles!"
Very, bizzare. Why the hell would you have left the house with out gloves in the first place? If he showed up in sunglasses, shorts and sandals could he still sue? I mean I think the Eagles just assumed people would just dress. I don't like it was one of the biggest winter storms to hit Philly in years. Perhaps, I don't know. Like it is the dead of winter.
I also heard he was out there for around 30 hours. Now I guess they worked really hard, but I can't imagine he was out there that long.

This is pretty funny. Apprently someone hacked into T-Moble and published numbers and emails of famous people. Quite a lot of them were all in Paris Hiltons cell phone. Sorry folks the numbers arent there, but if you want to read more just click away.
"It's Snow Big Deal"
Well the snow will start falling later today. Nothing has really changed, although the warmer air might even be around longer. Even if we do get some snow its turning to rain and turn to slush before tomorrow morning. So, it might look cool but it won't last long enough to sled or shovel. Looks like Old Man winter is getting ready to retire for the season. No luck next week either. Most people forcast 6 inches at worse. I still say about 2 inches.

"Over & Over Again"
Um the NHL season is cancelled for real, for real.
The two sides met for 6 hours in NYC and decided they werent going to get anywhere and are now focused on getting a 2005-06 season. Although, who knows how serious they will make their efforts once they part ways tonight.
No idea what the fall out this time was since a cap of $45 or $46 seemed to be on the table. People were flying high last night and were thinking pucks were going to be dropped March 2nd.
The whacky ride of will they or won't they might have finally come to an end.

"Swing and a Miss, For Old Man Winter"
Ah Old Man Winter still has some power his bag of tricks. Sunday into Monday is the next shot of snow. Seems odd to think of such a thing since it was insanely warm for the most part the last week.
Now its cold again, but Old Man Winter's timing is fairly poor to bring in snow. The storm will come just as it gets warm, so it will change over to rain early Monday morning anyway. So, not only is it snowing on a day when tons of people have off anyway, it seems that the roads will be safe early Monday.
They are capping the worse (or best if you like snow) case senario at 6 inches. I don't even see us getting any more than 2 or 3 inches at the most. The storm isn't worth hyping up as the news station have been since last night. The timing is off, and if you notice its going to be well over 50 degrees on Monday. So, I don't know baring a big change for Monday, how they can sell this as anything to worry about.
Could be our last chance for noticable snow.Check the map out for updates.
I may update the situation if need be on TUCKERS WORLD. As a loyal service to both my readers. I have to go bake cookies for my neighbors. Won't they be happy when I knock on the door and run away.

"Garden State VS Blockbuster"
I wrote about the new "late fee" policy awhile back. I was there a month ago or so, and thought to myself that something like this might happen. Since the policy is some what misleading, if you are late past the not really late date you get charged for the movie. So, I guess its depends on "Whadda Mean Late?"

"Day of NHLPA Reckoning"
As I was update on the NHLPA press conference, part of me thought NHLPA might actually take the almost offer to discuss the $45 millon cap. However, Goodenow refused, despite the fact that several players were begging him to do so. He didn't listen.
The NHLPA is falling apart right now. Some players are pissed that Goodenow went behind backs and actually accepted a cap. Two of them were Flyers forwards John Lecalir and Tony Amonte (who I offically loathe now) of course its players like these who clearly don't care about the game that will drive fans away.
During all this none other than Jeremy Roenick started to rally the troops to get something done. Even right now Friday afternoon he is trying to get people to see the logic in a $45 million cap. Since despite the fact that the season has been "iced" its not too late to uncancel the season.
Sadly, though if you listen to the stupidity of Trevor Linden you have to think that this is just players, and reporters in denial. In fact one gutless player gave a vauge threat to Roenick to the papers.
"There is going to be a reckoning," one unidentified player told the New York Post. "There is going to be an inquisition. What happened inside this union will not stand."
If JR finds out who he is and gets to skate in the NHL again I seriously, seriously, hope he kicks the living crap out of him. Flyers netminder Robert Esche has also drawn some fire. He had an emotional tirad on Daily News Live the day of the cancellation. He said he could careless that he is the lowest paid goalie in the league he just wants to play. That is should not have come to this. He certainly didn't care about a cap. It seems most players that speak out against the union are threatened, and I wonder how many more people would slam them.
Goodenow I doubt even has the majority behind him anymore. He is costing carrers, he is not looking out for their best interests, and should be committed.
So, rumors fly that this weekend that the players that care about the game are going to pull a superman and reverse the earth till the time when the season wasn't cancelled. If they don't succeed hopefully they will be the first to break the union and play next year if it comes to that.
Check this article in todays courier post. Here is another good one about the affects on others. Philly stand to lose $5 million. Mayor Street is thinking about taking action along with some other city mayors.
HA HA HA the union is falling apart! :::rubbing hands together:::

"McGreedy & the Whore"
Now former garden state Gov. Jim McGreevey, came out last year. He said he was gay. All the scandal that went along with him hooking his boytoy( the guy said he never had gay relations with the GOV.) up with a job he wasn't qualifed for. Some figure he got paid off to drop his lawsuit, but whatever.
Anyway now WPVI Channel 6 (ABC affliate) has a special report that he carried on a two year relationship with a known hooker.
Cheap sweeps stunt? Or another nugget of joy about our former GOV.?

"TGIFridays Burns Down"
The TGI Fridays in Williamstown (Washington TWP)was engulfed in flames last night. It was severly damaged, and I am not sure how much is actually left. I just wouldn't count on getting and chicken fingers from there anytime soon.
Thankfully, no one was hurt or killed in the blaze. Certain most my readers have been to this one before.

breaking news.........
ITS OVER;BETTMAN CANCELS SEASON
Despite an even bigger move to lower the cap by the NHLPA late last night said to be around $49 million Gary Bettman decided to tell them to pound sand and said $42.5 million or nothing. The NHLPA finally budged on their salary cap, and Bettman thanked them by arrogantly standing his ground.
Now besides the obvious with a lack of a season hurting the fanbase, this just awful. I highly doubt that NHLPA will even put the cap back on the table now that there is nothing to lose for awhile.
So it roughly comes down to 6.5 millon dollars they couldn't get on board with. Bettman is trying to spin it, but the truth seems to be clear.
I said all along despite maybe being a little to soft on the owners, that I thought the bottom line was that many owners simply want out. That perhaps Bettman was bluffing. Besides all he needs is 8 people to go against this and its a lockout. I don't think Bettman ever thought they would give back with a cap this late in the game. HOwever, its clear to me that he was going to do nothing to save the season.
So, now the blame went from the players who were dumb enough to never ever even consider a cap ( the concept is highly reasonable, the amount is arguable)which is why we are in this mess. Now the shift goes to to Bettman. The NHLPA leaped forward, Bettman took half a baby step forward. I can't blame ALL the owners, because I doubt Comcast and the Flyers wanted the cap that low. As long as 8 teams, so no way thats it.
Now plans to save the next season is underway. What a mess. Hockey will live on in Duke and my loser's season, and my seasons at Lizas. Somehow the playoffs might not be the same. That doesnt mean that I don't think my friends should throw a party or parade if I win the cup with either the Flyers (my season) or Vancover (the loser season).
Bettman and Goodenow should be shoe-ins for the hall of fame. As the men who killed hockey.

"NHLPA Caves"
NHLPA ACCEPTS CAP $52 millon cap; Bettman says NO!
In a last minute shocker in sudden death overtime for the NHL season, the NHLPA has caved. Faced with the fact that an entire season being wiped out the NHLPA has said they would allow a cap of $52 millon.
This was by far the largest step towards putting this mess behind them, and players back on the ice. HOwever, Bettman arrogantly rejected it, and claims a cap of $40 million or nothing. The fact that the NHLPA did this is big shock, and the fact that Bettman is even dumber than I thought in rejecting this is down right shocking.
Although one wonders, if this deal is any better then the deal sent the NHLPA's way at the end of the last week. This could be huge blunder by Bettman, or perhaps it is just a matter of playing with the money to get it down to this. Perhaps combine a roll back with the cap. I don't know what else the NHLPA can do, Bettman was asking for something. He pretty much got it, now he is telling them to go to hell.
Still there is a slim chance that there could still be a "season". Both sides are clearly freaking out over the thought of the league folding entirely.

"RIP NHL"
Well thats all she wrote. The NHL season is over. Of course its totally ludricous that they were even talking about having a season and all. Considering that fact it would be like March 1st for the season opener. It was going to be fairly, silly. LIke you lose the home opener just throw in the towel you are eliminated.
This morons didn't bother to start "brainstorming" till like 4 weeks ago. They just slammed each other in CAndian papers for the first several months. Now they are like.
"Gee, thought we could work something out"
Brenden Shannan was on the new last night (actually an ESPN clip I think). He was saying he was really upbeat about there being a season. Now he is sure its done. Considering the fact that a press conference is set for tomorrow I am sure he is right.
The kicker is, SHanny said now that this season is cancelled it's certainly going to take out part or all of next season. He said it will more then likely spill into a third season.
Now it was fairly obvious that he was told what to say. So, either the NHLPA is doing this out of real anger or they are just that dumb. Do they REALLY think there would actually be an NHL in 2007 if the dispute is not solved by then? I honestly think they do. I am really starting to wonder about Goodenow's mental health. He has made clearly some huge tactical errors against his union.
I am sure the press conference will be nice. Betman will give no straight answers and be really rude to reporters when they actually ask him direct questions. The most powerful man in hockey. Its his own damn fault for expanding too much, and turning his back on the loyal fans of the game. Too busy trying to get the "new" viewer or market.
The game of hockey had some issues like a decrease in ratings, tv money, scoring, and major marketable stars. Instead of trying to solve any of them they just keep opening up can after can of worms. Next what about the draft? Etc.
Ugh. If your sick of lockout talk on here. You got your wish. It's over now. Aside for maybe a link tomorrow for the press conference. Look for my NHL season preview sometime after Hell freezes.
This first time this ever happened in the US. From what I know the last time it happened anywhere was with the gladiators.

"Super Sunday"
Well as you well know I am a big fan of the Superman Movie Series and for the past 10 years Warner Brothers has been trying to start a new movie series. The project has had quite a few directors attached to it including Kevin Smith, MC G, and Tim Burton. In fact Nick Cage was to play Superman (AWFUL IDEA) under the direction of Burton in the mid 90's. The film got as far as pre-production and various sites in Pittsburgh were being filmed to be the new Metropolis. The project however fell through. Thank God, since Burton wanted the move Superman Reborn to have Superman be moody, and see his powers as a curse. That just isnt Superman. Check out this SUPER link to see some of the many ups and downs of the project.
However, it looks like everything is ago with a June 2006 release. There are already pictures of the Kent farm set being built. The movie being filmed in Australia which I think is terrible idea, considering it looks nothing like America.
What I am going to try to do is launch a new feature here called Super Sunday. This will update my readers on the progress of the film. I will also write about what I would actually like to see in the film, and trace the history of the previous four films. OF course I wont do this ever Sunday, but if I do write about it. Look for it to show on Sunday. The movie now called Superman Returns isn't out till June 2006. So God knows we have plenty of time.
Here is the cast so far:
Superman/CLark Kent: Brandon Routh, an unknown actor who plays in daytime TV shows. He really looks the part( though his eyes are the wrong color), and God knows he has some pretty big boots to fill. I am really glad they went with an unknown here. It came close to being Keenu Reeves.
Lois Lane: Kate Bosworth. Shes fairly hot, but all I know her from is Ads and a that terrible Blue Crush movie.
Ma Kent: Eva Marie Saint she starred opposite Marlon Brando (who played Jorel in Superman: the Movie) in On the Waterfront and with Cary Grant in North by Northwest. Apperently she is still alive and acts. considering that Superman is already an adult I guess Ma Kent would be fairly old. Since they were already 5oish when little Superman crashed on earth.
Lex Luthor: Kevin Spacey, now really he has big shoes to fill in my mind too. I cant see anyone other than Gene Hackman in this role. I guess he will play it like his character in Swimming with SHarks. Hopefully, they don't got the cheesy route of CLarke and Lex knowing each other in Smallville.
Jimmy Olsen: He is being played by this kid named Sam Huntington. He was in Not Another Teen MOvie which I only saw parts of. I guess he is best known playing opposite Tim Allen in the family comedy Jungle 2 Jungle quite a few years back.
ALso in the cast is Kal Pen best known for playing the stoner White Castle MOvie. IF you recall in the previous films Lex always had a comic relief dimwhitted sidekick. The first two flicks it was Ottis played wonderfully by Ned Beaty. In Superman IV: THe Quest for Peace, Jon Cryer played Lex's nephew Lenny. Now I usually like Cryer, but this was right off the filming of the forgotten 80's comedy Hiding Out where he played a straight laced stock brooker hiding out as a punk rocker highschool student. He kept the awful punk hair for his role as Lenny, which was painfully unfunny. Wasn't really Cryer's fault since most of his important plot lines were cut, and the writing sucked. Given Pen's film career I imagine he is playing Lex's goofball.
Also playing this film is Jason Mardsen from X-Men. I am not sure but I think he is playing Perry White's son. HUge Laurie (another name I had to look up he was the father in the Stewart Little films) is playing Perry White the head of the Daily Planet. I think he is way too young for this role, but I guess they dont want him to be really old if they do sequels.
Other names out there are all over the map. I have heard Jud Law will play General Zod, and Daniel Day Lewis (yeah right!) will play Jor-el. Also Kevin Bacon might randomly show up.
The Plot:
Its unclear. Obviously Superman returns from somewhere. Some are saying its a loose sequel to Superman II, just with a different cast. Basically SUperman has been gone for awhile and General Zod and the other two featured in Superman II are running the show. I don't think Warner Brothers would like to sell this as a sequel though.
At any rate at the very least we know Superman is already known to people in this movie, and there might be some flashbacks to make it more clear. However, "something" likely very simliar to the events of Superman II already happened. Any everyone is saying "Where is Superman?" It seems that at this point they are going the route that Pa Kent died when CLark was young and is already gone at this point. There might be some flashbacks though. In the original movie series he died in the first film, and we learn in Superman III that Clark's mother passed away when he returns to Smallville for a class reunion.
Bryan Singer is directing the film, he did the first two X-men films. This makes most people happy except the X-men fans are pissed he left for another comic book movie. No word yet if they will use John Williams classic theme. Or at least a verison of it, he only actually did the first film the sequels were all copy cats with "love themes" for that film in addition to watered down verisions of the famliar Superman theme. I will keep you posted on Sundays, if I feel like it.
